    PAY ATTENTION, please a collaboration between FARE and SYB promoted by Comune di Milano curated by Valerio Del Baglivo & Angela Serino Milan (IT) – Beetsterzwaag (NL) 28 October 2012 – 2 January 2013 Is it possible to interrupt our usual routine and suspend our daily pro- gramming – however briefly – to rethink the ways and the rhythms of our ‘making’? Can art provide us the opportunity to activate a different level of attention towards ourselves and the environment around us? If any ac- tivity requires a certain degree of attention, what happens when the con- tent of an artwork considers the aesthetic dimension of concentration it- self? Through a series of collective activities, involving both physical and mental exercises, the artists of “PAY ATTENTION, please” will generate mo- ments of concentration that aim to encourage alternative ways of observ- ing, experiencing and relating to our surrounding environment. The proposed exercises will allow us to develop new abilities and skills, as well as to gain new knowledge. But they are also intended to cause shifts and deviations in the experience of each participant, helping them to focus on their relationships with other people, as well as with the familiar gestures they make every day.     Curriculum Vitae Valerio Rocco Orlando (Milano, 1978) è artista e docente di Drammaturgia multimediale all’Accademia di Brera. Attraverso pratiche che spaziano dai workshop alle videoinstallazioni, la sua ricerca assume l’arte come processo di analisi e conoscenza reciproca ed esplora l’osmosi tra istituzioni, musei, accademia e sfera sociale. Nel corso degli anni ha attivato collaborazioni con il filosofo Jean-Luc Nancy, il compositore Michael Nyman, gli artisti Gilbert & George, Ugo Rondinone e Liam Gillick, gli attori Saleh Bakri e Alba Rohrwacher, la cantanta Amalia Grè, e lo psicoanalista Luigi Zoja. Nel 2009 vince il premio ISCP New York, nel 2014 riceve una International Artist Fellowship al MMCA National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, e nel 2016 viene insignito del Kunstpreis VAF Stiftung. Grazie al sostegno del Ministero della Cultura, nell’ambito del programma Italian Council, nel 2021 Valerio Rocco Orlando fonda una scuola indipendente, internazionale e transdisciplinare, attraverso la creazione di una piattaforma digitale e il recupero di un immobile concessogli dal Comune di Matera per trent’anni.
