I’VE NEVER SEEN NICK WORK SO HARD at something than his one-man show. When you think about it, a Broadway show is set up for the actor. The script is written, the songs are given to you, the ticket sales are done for you and the audience comes through the door. This was the first time in Nick’s career that he had to do all that work in order for his show to happen. I was eight months pregnant with Elvis at the time and it was such an honor sitting at Feinstein’s / 54 Below watching him perform. I always loved watch- ing my husband onstage but there is something so special about this show because it was all his. Each song was chosen for a reason and each interlude was carefully thought about. It turned out to be such a beautiful night. The energy was electric and contagious. He spent so much time carefully crafting the lineup so that each song had a purpose and told a story. The story is about him, his family, his life, his career and then what he hoped his life would continue to be. When you listen to the album from start to finish it takes you on an exciting ride with a special encore of “Live Your Life.” I’m so glad this album was made so that Elvis and I can always listen to it and hear Nick’s voice. — AMANDA KLOOTS IN EARLY 2019, Nick This recording was made on the second recording and mixing process is one of great approached me about working with him night of our two-show run at Feinstein’s / collaboration and vulnerability. THE FIRST TIME I ever laid eyes on Nick Cordero is when I went to see him in the Broadway musical Bullets Over Broadway. We were looking for someone to play the part of Sonny in the musical of A Bronx Tale and I was told that this was the man who would be perfect for the role. When he came out on stage with his presence and grace and his powerful voice I knew they were right. Nick played Sonny on Broadway and was brilliant. We became close friends, I got to know his future wife, Amanda, and I was even there to drive them home from the hospital with their newborn son Elvis. Nick would always tell me about his one person show that he was writing and how excited he was to perform it. He wanted to do a medley of songs that would capture his life experiences. What Nick put together was masterful. His songs reflect each stage of his life — the heartaches, the triumphs, the love, the passion and the ecstasy of an artist’s journey to success. When you hear Nick perform these songs you will understand why this man was such a rare talent. Even if you never met him after hearing this album you will know the man behind the music and you’ll fall in love with him just like we all did. Nick Cordero would always say that he was the luckiest man in the world. Well in truth he was half right: we were the lucky ones to know this man even if it was for a short time. We were all blessed to feel his spirit. His final song says it all...
