You wi II be able to put forward sugges tions or ask question on any mailers relating to Salt ford. Representativ es of all loca l organisations have also heen invited to give a short report of their activities over the pa st yea r. MA Y COUNCIL ELECTIONS On 1st May 2003 all the parish and town council sea ts will be up for election. Are you intcrested in standing as a Saltford Parish Councillor? What is involved? You have me as Clerk for a ~tarl! Ah well you can't win tht!m aliI M ee tings are twice monthly in the evenings at Saltford Hall. The term of office is 4 years and cleven Councillors can be elected. Plea e seriously consider slanding for election if you are interested and have ideas to improve your village. CHANGE OF STREET NAME FOR CLAVERTON ROAD WEST It has been suggested that due to the Emergency Services, Postal and Van deliveries heing confused by the similarity of Claverton Road , and Clavenon Road West we should consider changing the name of Clavenon Road We L Mistake by the Emergency Services could have falal consequences and so I would like to hear from the residents of Claverton Road West whether (a ) they would be in agreement to change the name and (b) what suggestions you have ror a new name. Alternatively should both roads become just Clavenon Road and those currently in Claverton Road West just change their numbers? I stress that this idea is very much in its early stages - no decisions have ,been made one way of the other - now is the time to voice your thoughts on the mailer to me on a postcard. 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT IN THE HIGH STREETfMEAD LANErrHE SHALLOWS I have just been advised that work is due to take place in the next financial year for B&NES from the I st April 2003. It has been agreed to extend the 20mph beyond the Sailing Club in Mead Lane to The Jolly Sailor Pub. FOOTPATH CLOSURE The BA27/43 footpath from Bath Road across the railway bridge is clo.,lXl until 31 st March 2003 to allow for repairs to the bridge buttresses and retaining wall nearby .
