Drumlanrig Castle
Drumlanrig Castle is near Thornhill (18 miles from Barnsoul). There are several walks at Drumlanrig for all ages and abilities and your dog can join in the walk too. All that is asked is that they are kept on the lead due to there being lots of wildlife.
Caerlaverock Castle
Caerlaverock Castle is near Dumfries (17
miles from Barnsoul). Caerlaverock
Castle welcomes dogs to explore the
castle and grounds, however they must
be kept on the lead. The castle supplies
water bowls for your dog as I am sure
they’ll be thirsty afterwards. Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed in the café but if it’s a nice day you are more than welcome to sit outside with them.

Kippford to Rockcliffe Circular
The Kippford to Rockcliffe circular walk (20 miles from Barnsoul) is a popular wooded coastal walk. You can start in whichever village you prefer as it is a circular route. The distance is about 3.25 miles and takes roughly 2 hours. This route is dog friendly and, if you wish to stop for a bite to eat, there is a restaurant in Kippford called the
Mariner which also allows dogs.

Sandyhills (18 miles from Barnsoul) is
a large sandy beach on the southern
coastline of Dumfries and Galloway.
Due to the beach being so big there
is plenty of space for your dog to run
wild and plenty for all the family to do.
