Introduction n Psalm 119 three times the Psalmist directly expresses his great love for God’s Word: ‘I love thy testimonies’ (v. 119), ‘Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, Iabove fine gold’ (v. 127), and ‘consider how I love thy precepts’ (v. 159)’. I wonder how much you and I love the Scriptures of Truth. Doubtless we ought to love it more than we do. We can be thankful, though, that evidence of the demand for faithful editions of God’s Word in different languages all over the world seems to grow each year, and this is reflected in the increasing number of Bible translation and revision projects in which the Society is engaged. During the month of September we were pleased to welcome into the department Miss Natalie Christie, who took up her role as Editor, reporting to the Editorial Manager, Jonathan Arnold. God willing, Natalie will be involved in many areas of editorial activity, including working on the calendars alongside Darren Cadapen, Editorial Assistant, who due to pastoral duties has reduced his work for the Society to two days per week. We are thankful that the Lord continues to bless us with capable and talented staff. The bulk of this report covers a trip made in July 2016 by the General Secretary and the Editorial Director first to Turkey and then on to India. Travelling for face-to-face meetings with Bible translators and revisers remains the best way to appreciate the need for a faithful Bible in the languages in which they are labouring and to gain a good understanding of the church, social, political and geographical backgrounds to their work.
