LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY proudly presents CARNEGIE CONVERSATIONS GUEST LECTURE SERIES FEBRUARY 2014 A CRICKET CONVERSATION ON LEADERSHIP IN SPORT Mark Arthur, Martyn Moxon, Jason Gillespie and Tanya Arnold Date: The first lecture in the series is hosted by BBC Sport’s Tanya Arnold. Tuesday 25 February 2014 Tanya will be joined by Yorkshire County Cricket Club CEO Mark Arthur, Director of Professional Cricket Martyn Moxon and first team coach Venue: Jason Gillespie as they explore leadership in sport both on and off the Lewis Jones Suite, Headingley Carnegie Stadium pitch with Yorkshire County Cricket Club. MARTYN MOXON Martyn Moxon is one of only 15 men to have scored more than 18,000 first-class runs for Yorkshire. The former opening batsman and county captain also played 10 Test and eight One-Day International matches for England prior to his move into coaching. Moxon scored nearly 30,000 runs in all forms of the game in his 18-year playing career, and he is now Yorkshire’s Director of Professional Cricket, heading up the county’s backroom staff. JASON GILLESPIE A legend of the game from his playing days as a fast bowler for Australia in Test and One-Day International cricket, Jason Gillespie has made an impressive start to his coaching career. Following a spell in Zimbabwe, he returned to Headingley ahead of the 2012 summer. Gillespie spent two years with the county as their overseas player in 2006 and 2007, so it was no surprise when he accepted the offer of the job as first-team coach in a restructure of the coaching department. TANYA ARNOLD Broadcaster Tanya Arnold is the main presenter of the Super League Show on BBC One. Tanya is well known to rugby league fans as part of the BBC’s Challenge Cup and Four Nations team, as well as being a regular sports presenter with BBC Look North, Yorkshire’s regional news programme.
