2 The Western Cricketer Patron
The WACA was again honoured when His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia, Lieutenant General John Sanderson AC, continued as the Association’s Honorary Patron thus perpetuating a Vice Regal tradition that has endured and has been a great privilege for the WACA since the inception of the Association more than a Century ago. Western Australia’s extremely popular Governor possesses a great love and knowledge of sport. We are always very pleased when their commitments permit that His Excellency and Mrs Sanderson are able to attend WACA matches and functions. His Excellency again strongly supported the Governor’s XI vs WACA President’s XI cricket match played at the WACA Ground in March of this year. The Governor’s XI played with great distinction, soundly defeating the WACA President’s XI and thus restoring some parity to results of recent years in this prestigious annual fixture.
