Matt is an Associate in the office who articled at the Practice Areas firm after obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University of Discipline and Termination of Employment Western Ontario. While at Western, Matt was involved as a Employment Standards caseworker with the Sport Solution Clinic where he Collective Bargaining provided guidance and advice to members of Canada’s National Sports Teams on a number of legal issues, Labour Relations including compensation and disciplinary issues.

Prior to joining the Firm, Matt spent five years working at the Players’ Association (“NHLPA”) where he managed various marketing and sponsorship programs. Matt also played a key role in several joint NHL/NHLPA international ventures, including the NHL European Premiere Games, the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics, and the World Cup of Hockey.

While still at the NHLPA in 2012-13, Matt became immersed in certain aspects of the collective bargaining process eventually leading to his decision to attend law school the following year. Matt later returned to the NHLPA after his first year of law school where he was tasked with preparing briefs and providing legal analysis as part of the National Hockey League’s salary arbitration process.

Prior to his work with the NHLPA, Matt completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Yale University where he was a 4-year letter winner for the Varsity Hockey Team. Upon graduating, Matt played one season of professional hockey for the Capitals of the UK’s Elite League. He later worked as an analyst with the Edinburgh-based, Sainsbury’s Bank
