Welcome to the 42nd Göteborg Film Festival

Welcome to the Göteborg Film Festival, the leading film festival in Scan- dinavia, featuring a vast selection of films from all over the world. Over the course of this 42nd edition of the festival, 400 films from 83 countries will be presented. This Industry Guide provides a summary of the festival, and contains all the practical information you will need about screenings, seminars, and parties, the films and drama series in competition, and much more. As always, the festival presents an extensive line-up of new Nordic films, including a number of world premieres. With the ongoing climate crisis as a vantage point, the apocalypse is the main focus of this year’s Göteborg Film Festival and the programme will explore in a number of ways how today’s filmmakers visualise the future in the context of the greatest challenge humanity has ever faced. On a brighter note, the festival’s parallel focus is on Nordic Comedy. Read more about this year’s festival highlights and the outstanding competition programmes on pages 34–55. The Nordic Film Market and TV Drama Vision are the primary meeting places for international industry delegates to discover new talent, current and future trends for the screen industries, and upcoming productions from the , as well as to attend private market screenings. The 6th Nostradamus report will be presented and discussed during a seminar featuring the sharpest minds from the industry. Check out the industry programming on pages 10–11. We hope this guide will help you make your time at the festival the unforgettable experience you – and we – want it to be.

We wish you all a great time in Göteborg!

Lucky One Koko-di Koko-da Well-poised, intelligent and apt as Mia Engberg goes from documentary to fiction and explores Snorting, sadistic humor, and pitch-black narrative pleasure in Johannes Nyholm’s playful follow-up “the visual silence.” Just as in Engberg’s Guldbagge-awarded documentary Belleville Baby (GFF to the Guldbagge-awarded The Giant and Las Palmas. A few years ago, Elin and Tobias lost their 2013), a dialog between Mia and Vincent is in progress. “Yes, but imagine if,” Mia says, and unfolds a child in a tragic accident. Now they are off on a camping trip in hope of finding their way back to long story that is not possible. Together with the recalcitrant Vincent, she develops a painful, modern each other. But when Elin wakes up early one morning and needs to pee, three strange figures show and at the same time timeless tale. The aging gangster Vincent works long nights and dreams about up and thus begins a nightmare scenario that seems to have no end. Like a hellish Groundhog Day, another life. When he is unexpectedly given responsibility for his teenage daughter, Adina, life begins a ghastly scene runs on repeat, with small variations.
