All proceeds will benefit Play Smart Youth Heart Screening Program. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to this extremely important program. We had so much fun last year that we will again be putting on the popular Hors d’oeuvre Cocktail Party Friday evening from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Eugene Hilton. The party will begin with beer and wine tasting from 7 to 8 p.m. with hearty hors d’oeuvres from 7:30 to 9 p.m. At 7:30, dancing will start with live music by Bump in the Road. Come join us for this fun evening. Don’t forget, the raffle drawing for the OWIT and OLC Foundation $1,000 Visa gift card will take place at the party. Tickets for Desserts for Dreams and the Cocktail Party can be purchased with your registration. The Oregon Logging Conference will open its doors to the public on Saturday with family fun and educational displays. The OLC continues to support and fa- cilitate the High School Forestry Skills Competition, sponsored by Nygaard Logging and Warrenton Fiber Co. Come support these energized individuals and see what our younger generation has to offer. All the equipment and exhibitor displays will remain open until 2 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to communicate and interact with the public. It should be easy to show off an industry that we are proud of. Make plans now to attend the 2015 Oregon Logging Conference – Logging, Construction, Trucking and Heavy Equipment Expo. • Political Advertising's Impact on Broadcast Television News
MONEY, POLITICS, AND LOCAL NEWS: POLITICAL ADVERTISING’S IMPACT ON BROADCAST TELEVISION NEWS by HALEY RIVET A THESIS Presented to The School of Journalism and Communication and the Robert D. Clark Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Arts June 2016 An Abstract of the Thesis of Haley Rivet for the degree of Bachelor of Arts in the School of Journalism and Communications to be taken June 2016 Title: Money. Politics. And Local News: Political Advertising's Impact On Broadcast Television News Peter Laufer Traditional news outlets are struggling to find a place in the new technology climate. and yet most presidential campaigns still choose to spend the majority of their budget on television advertisement spots that air during news shows. It is crucial to analyze not only the way the media affects our politics, but also how politics and the money spent on campaigning influences the media. Presidential campaign advertising financially impacts the television broadcast news industry, and this impact is shifting as laws and technology evolve.
