B2G 7v7 Tournament Rules

1. FIELD LENGTH: A. 50 total yards (40 yards with a 10 yard ).

2. TEAM MEMBERS A. Each team has a maximum of 25 players. Players will not be accepted into the event as individuals. All players must be part of a team. B. All players must be on the team roster at the start of the tournament. C. Teams are not required to utilize an offensive center. If utilizing one, the center will be responsible for setting or repositioning the football at the . If no center, the QB will be responsible. D. You will be penalized with a 3-point deduction from your first game if you fail to do the following: • Check in on time before the start of your first game • Provide a final roster for your team • Be on time to the field • Have all athletes in provided wristbands • Turn in all waivers for athletes participating in the tournament

3. STARTING EACH GAME: A. The designated home team (2nd on schedule) will begin possession of the on the +40 yard line with a choice of hash mark. Higher seed in Bracket play. B. A horn or whistle will begin each game. C. Each game will last 25 minutes, running time. D. Game official will declare when the clock goes under two minutes. E. The clock will not stop for anything before the last two minutes of the game. Each team can have one timeout in the last two minutes of the game. F. Clock will stop on a scoring play with under one minute left in the game. The extra point will be an un- timed . G. A horn or whistle will end each game.

4. MOVING THE BALL: A. Offense always starts on +40 yard line with a choice of hash mark after any change of possession. B. Offense has three downs to gain a first down. First down markers will be at the +25 and +10 yard lines. C. Once inside the +10 yard line, the offense has three downs to score a . D. For the conversion after a touchdown, the offense can choose to go for 1 or 2 points. A 1 point conversion is from the +5 yard line, and a 2 point conversion is from the +10 yard line. The offense may have a choice of hash mark for ball placement. E. The offense may run the ball once per drive but not within the 10 yard line. Runs allowed are: Dive, Draw, Jet Sweep, and Stretch. There are no toss passes or reverses allowed. All passes must be forward. F. Defensive players cannot cross the line on a run play until the hands the ball off to the running back. G. Offense can use any formation to move the ball with 1 quarterback and 5 eligible receivers. 7th player may only be a center to the ball. H. Quarterback will have 3.5 seconds to throw the ball. QB tees will be used as a timer.

5. COACHING YOUR TEAM: A. Each team can have a maximum of 4 coaches. B. There will be one offensive coach allowed on the field at any time. C. The offensive coach must be positioned behind the offensive huddle. D. Coaches are not allowed to challenge any official ruling. E. Remaining team coaches can work from the sideline. F. No defensive coaches are allowed on the field. G. Coaches will be expelled if their conduct is ruled excessively unsportsmanlike & flagrant.

6. SPECIAL RULES: A. No blocking. B. Blocking will result in a loss of down with the ball returned to the previous spot. C. Ball carrier is legally down when touched below the neck with one hand. A defender cannot leave his feet to make a tag. Runner will still be able to run if defender's feet are off the ground. Excessive force by shoving, pushing, blatant tackling to the ground, or striking a blow, excessive holding will be penalized by automatic first down and moving the ball to the next first down spot. Player will be expelled if ruled unsportsmanlike & flagrant. D. (including snap) are dead balls at the spot with the last team in control retaining possession at the spot. E. Each team will have 25 seconds to put the ball into play. F. The offensive team is responsible for retrieving and returning the ball to the official. The clock does not stop and any delay by the offense in retrieving and returning the ball to the official will result in a delay of game and a loss of down. G. The coach must report all game play ruling discrepancies to the Field Manager no more than 30 minutes after that game has ended. Any reversal or game changing decisions will be made at the Field Manager’s discretion. H. The tiebreaker used for seeding after pool play will be in the following order: • Head to Head, Points Allowed and then Points Scored.

7. SCORING A. Offensive touchdown = 6 points B. Extra point from +5 yard line = 1 point C. Extra point from the +10 yard line = 2 points D. Tie Breaker victory = 1 point E. Defensive pass returned untouched to the 40 yard line = 6 points F. Defensive Stop first 3 and out (no offensive 1st down) = 2 points G. Interception = 3 points

8. PENALTIES A. Defensive pass interference or defensive holding will result in an automatic 1st down and the ball will advance to the next 1st down field marker. If defensive pass interference or holding is committed within the 10 yard line, the ball will advance to the 5 yard line with an automatic 1st down. Inside the 5 yard line the ball will move to the 1 yard line. B. Offensive penalties will result in a return to the previous spot plus a loss of down. C. Quarterback is allowed 3.5 seconds to throw the ball. Game official will stop the play if 3.5 seconds is surpassed. The result of that play will be a loss of 5 yards and a loss of down for the offense. D. An interception is a change of possession with the intercepting team gaining possession at the +40 yard line. The result of an interception is also 6 points for the defense only if the player who intercepts the ball returns it back to the 40 yard line untouched by an offensive player. Regardless, the intercepting team still gains possession. E. A team that plays a 3-5-3 defense can play with 8 on the field. One defender must take a knee and be out of the play as the offensive team breaks the huddle. F. When the offensive team motions, they can NOT send any player through the imaginary tackle box at the snap of the ball. Player must release down field outside tackle box or the play will result in the loss of a down. G. Unsportsmanlike and flagrant conduct will result in a penalty or ejection at the discretion of the officials. H. Defensive unsportsmanlike penalties will result in an automatic 1st down and the ball will advance to the next 1st down field marker. Offensive unsportsmanlike penalties will result in a 10 yard penalty plus a loss of down. I. Two unsportsmanlike penalties will result in an automatic ejection for the rest of the tournament. J. Any team displaying flagrant and unsportsmanlike conduct (i.e. fighting) will be disqualified by officials or Field Manager, especially after a warning. No credit or refunds will be provided.

9. TIE BREAKER A. Any Pool Play game that ends in a tie will go to a tie breaker. There will be a coin toss at the beginning of the tie breaker with the home team calling the toss. The winner will choose to be on offense or defense. B. Each team will have one snap from the +40 yard line with choice of hash mark. C. The team with the longest pass completion will be declared the winner of the tie breaker. NO RUNNING PLAYS ALLOWED IN POOL PLAY . D. If there is no pass completion or the longest completion is equal, the tie breaker will be repeated with the team that lost the initial coin toss making the choice to play offense or defense. E. This format will be repeated until a winner is declared. F. Winning the tie breaker counts as a win in the standings and a 1 point advantage in the scoring column. G. Tie Breaker for Bracket play will have each team getting 3 plays from the 10 yard line. Each team will get an attempt to score in each overtime period. Starting with the 3rd and subsequent overtimes, all PAT’s must be 2 point attempts from the 10 yard line. Overtime periods are not timed.
