To have face-to-face meetings with potential co-producing partners, broadcasters, commissioning editors, sales agents and distributors who could work with Australian companies to enable R developed projects to be produced and finished projects to find a place in the market. To support the Australian filmmakers attending the events – in the case of IDFA it was those who had projects screening in the festival or who were pitching projects in the Forum or private meetings. To observe which L documentaries were finding an audience, and in what form. And to establish new contacts, particularly in the area of science producing, where the cost of production is such that numerous co-production partners are usually E essential. Attending the two events back-to-back was an interesting conjunction of market/festival. It is best expressed via two conversations I had on my first V day at each event. When asking a filmmaker at IDFA why they were there I was told it was with a film which was a ‘post-Brechtian deconstruction of the Israeli Palestinian conflict’ and on asking the same question at World A Congress the response was ‘to sell 26 hours on killer reptiles’. It gave a wonderful insight to the diversity of the world that is documentary. London R Before the festivals, time was spent in London having meetings with some of those with whom Screen Australia deals on a regular basis.

Banished is an epic seven part series from award-winning writer/creator Jimmy McGovern (story producer Redfern Now) loosely inspired by events in the 18th century when Britain established a penal colony on the other side of the world. Starring David Wenham (Top Of The Lake), Russell Tovey (Being Human), Myanna Buring (Ripper Street), Julian Rhind-Tutt (The Hour) and Ryan Corr (Wolf Creek 2), the series starts filming in Sydney this April before moving to Manchester in the UK. DIVISION OVERVIEW As an integral part of New York City's Department of Transportation, the Division of Bridges has a two-fold mission: to maintain an optimal transportation network by ensuring smooth mobility on the city's bridges, and to ensure the safety of the public. The New York City Department of Transportation’s Division of Bridges is comprised of six major bureaus. The Chief Bridge Officer is responsible for formulating policy and providing executive direction. He oversees all aspects of the design, construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction, maintenance, operation and administration of the 787 bridges (including 5 tunnels), and 61 culverts presently under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT). In addition to broad supervision, the Chief Bridge Officer also provides overall executive and administrative direction for the Division of Bridges, and ensures that all contractors are promptly paid. Reporting to the Chief Bridge Officer, the Community Affairs Unit maintains liaison with elected officials, community boards, community groups, and civic/neighborhood associations. The Unit takes a pro-active approach in addressing design issues and roadway closures and detours by reaching out to communities prior to the onset of construction. This enables the Division to proceed with its rehabilitation program with community input, and allows the Agency and its contractors to co-exist in a more harmonious manner with the community surrounding the project. The series is being filmed at stunning locations in and around Auckland, New Zealand, as well as on spectacular purpose-built sets that bring to life the magical fantasy world our characters inhabit. The Legend of Monkey is being produced for ABC, TVNZ and Netflix by the Oscar and Emmy-winning production company See-Saw Films together with Jump Film & TV. The series is an official New Zealand/Australian co-production with principal investment from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW, Fulcrum Media Finance and the New Zealand Screen Production Grant. Head writer is the acclaimed Jacquelin Perske (Seven Types of Ambiguity, Spirited, Will) with both Craig Irvin (Nowhere Boys) and Samantha Strauss (Dance Academy) providing additional writing services.
