SHEEN (1895-1979) Some have heard of him. Some have seen him in person. Some have met him. Perhaps YOU!? Our Lady of Peace is hosting this evening with Archbishop Sheen on Monday, May 8 (which would be his 122nd birthday – and yes, there will be cake!), 7:00 p.m. in the Old Rectory. Bishop Watterson High School theology teacher, Michael Fry, will be sharing Sheen’s story based on viewing the DVD Servant of All, personal encounters and correspondence, and hopes to hear YOUR stories and recollections of this holy man of God! A NOVENA OF GRACE AND SOLIDARITY Today, we see throughout parts of the Middle East, Africa and Asia the brutal persecution, torture and killing of Christians. The Knights of Columbus invite you to pray over the next nine days a Novena of Grace and Solidarity for Christians suffering persecution. This novena is based on a prayer in honor of St. Francis Xavier by Italian Father Marcello Mastrilli, a missionary to Japan who was martyred for the faith. God our Father, as St. Francis Xavier and countless of Your missionaries traveled to the ends of the earth, impelled by the love of Jesus Christ, give me the grace to rely entirely on You, confident in the knowledge that You raise up the humble and the lowly. May I be united with Your saints in offering You my humble tribute of thanksgiving and praise. I implore You to grant me, through Your mercy, the blessing of living and dying in a state of grace. I also ask this same blessing for all those throughout the world who suffer persecution because of their faith in You. O God, you were pleased to gather to Your Church the peoples of the world by the preaching and miracles of all Your saints; mercifully grant that I may imitate their virtues and so bear witness to the Gospel of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen. Youth Ministry Second Collection Catholic Camporee The Bishop has requested a May 19-20 in Somerset, OH at St. Joseph's Catholic Church second collection for the Community Shelter Board.
