  • Legacy Plan 1 Introduction
LEGACY PLAN 1 INTRODUCTION In 2021, Lithuania will host the biggest sports event in the country’s history – the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021™. The three host cities, Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda, will welcome the best futsal national teams in the world. Hosting such an event will have a significant impact on Lithuanian futsal, the host cities and the country itself. 2 PURPOSE The legacy plan will help to identify and predict the impact that the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021 will have on futsal in the country and on Lithuania’s profile in international sport. The aim is to leave a legacy for futsal in Lithuania, and to grow professionalism in the sport and the rate of participation. 3 CURRENT SITUATION Futsal in Lithuania is currently semi-professional. A total of ten teams participated in the futsal A league in 2019/2020. The Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) also organises the LFF Futsal Cup, in which a minimum of 14 futsal teams participate each year. Looking at children’s participation, 210 girls’ teams (2,000 girls) and 283 boys’ teams (2,750 boys) participated across various grassroots futsal competitions in the 2019/2020 season. Research conducted by Kantar in 2019 showed that a third of respondents (30%) are aware of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021 being held in the country. There is an opportunity for this event to bring new fans to futsal, especially as Lithuania will be competing in a Futsal World Cup or FIFA event for the very first time. 4 VISION Our legacy plan is based on the goal to present the tournament as the greatest achievement in the history of Lithuanian football and as a unique opportunity for Lithuanians to experience world-class futsal live.

  • The Potential Legacy of the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia
The potential legacy of the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia “When you reach the rim of Medellín’s mountainous surroundings the power and presence of the City hits. Hits you both in your head and stomach. It’s an emotional feeling. You know there are bigger cities, but none provide such beauty, creativity and diversity in one snapshot. Looking across the City, from the high-rise buildings that group together, to the fevalas that chase outwards and upwards as far as the eye can see, makes it difficult to focus. The City, the landscape and the people, paisa – people of the region of Antioquia, are beautiful. The innovation visible and lived within Medellín provides further feelings of envy from the rest of Colombia, and from the mountains this is clearly visible. As the people navigate this tightly packed City, by metro system, cable car or elevators, reaching the higher ground – all – will be aware of the new additions rising from the landscape. They are unmissable. Whilst football has been the cornerstone of Medellín’s history and culture – the miracle of football pitches rising towards the heavens from the fevalas not only endorses this heritage, but makes clear that football is part of this City for the future.” This purpose of this quote to give you an clear understanding of how much football is linked to the culture and every day life of Medellin and the people of Colombia. However, as I type this another footballing format that some argue is the fruit of Football and has provided the sport with most of its star players, is taking place in Colombia and that is the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup, a sport that is growing globally but was born in South America and is growing in popularity.

  • Changing the Market Position of Public Television – Case of Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary
KÖZ-GAZDASÁG 2021/1 159 Fran Galetić1: Changing the Market Position of Public Television – Case of Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary The market position of public television channels has been changing over the last three decades. From monopolists, public televisions have become just one of the players on the television market. This paper analyses the position of public television in Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary. These neighbouring countries are similar but have different market power of public TV. Croatia has a strong public television, Hungary has very week public television, and Slovenia is in the middle. The aim of this paper is to show how the audience of public TV channels has been changing and based on this data, the author will estimate regression models for future forecasting of audience share for public TV channels in all three countries. This will enable the analysis of the market position of the whole group of public TV channels in each country. 1. Introduction Public television was the first television that occurred in every European country. At the time of starting, these televisions were referred to as state televisions. Later, they moved from state television to public television, which is the form that is used nowadays. At the beginning, in the 1950s, all these televisions were monopolists. This means that they were the only television channels on the national level. In the 1970s state televisions have started to broadcast the second channel, but that was still monopoly, as both channels were broadcasted by the same television company. In most European countries, the late 1980s and early 1990s were characterized by the liberalization of the television market and first private television channels started to appear.
