Bibliometric Study of Performing Arts P. Devapattabiraman
PhD Research scholar Department of Performing Arts Pondicherry Central University Puducherry-605014 Abstract
The importance of bibliometric study in performing arts really have been brought to external world about its nature, originality and developments. In this aspects bibliometric study analysis in the literature contributions of the same academicians were analysed indeed in detailed manner. Through this tools usage the literature strength and weak of performing arts have been explored and identified in the proper channel. What do academicians such as professors and research scholars are needed to do in the development of literatures range in performing arts were identified and what are the development steps needs to be taken out form the government side was explicitly discovered. Among the several department of performing arts in Pondicherry state the Pondicherry central university academicians are written books ,articles, conducted seminars, workshops and conferences as enough as sufficient in the career development aspects. In the same style rest of department of various colleges and university in Pondicherry have to concentrate on creating literatures in performing arts department.

Introduction
Bibliometric is a type of research method used in Library and information sciences. It is an emerging area of research in the Library and information science field. The term “Bibliometric” was first coined by Pritchard 1969, and its usage and practice can be traced back to the second decade of this country. It is the statistical analysis of texts and information. It utilizes quantitative analysis and statistics to describe patterns of publication within a given field or body of literature. Bibliometric is an emerging thrust area of research and has now become a well-established part of information research and a quantitative approach to the description of documents. It has grown out of the realization that literature is growing and changing out of a

Now days the bibliometric study is used in all the disciplines of the education fields as a research tools to strengthen the particular fields .Likewise, this research method is applied in performing arts as a way to explore the output and input of the research thrust of the researcher in the performing arts . The famous and good performances of the performing arts have been strengthened by the good work, record and research works of the different scholars and academicians. Regarding to department of performing arts development, the bibliometric study has been as a steady information providers to be several researchers and scholars who are interested to do research on different issues and topics in the performing arts fields.
Department of performing arts, bibliometric study and research scholars are being as the major elements of the developments past several years and being together for the prosperity of the research on different issues in different disciplines. The main aptitude of the bibliometric study is to verify, analyse and explore the strength, quantity and quality of the academic work of the academician’s. This study is aimed at synthesising both bibliometric study and performing arts to constitute a quality and fine research result in the department of performing arts. The trend of performing arts development is not a new phenomenon but it is an old phenomena, which will not be lasted rather than being lasting one owing to bibliometric study supports.
Statement of problem Department of performing arts in India have been established in the central universities alone though it was famous, popular and lucrative department .It has been shining in Folk lore arts, Modern Theatre’s programmes, Serials, Music,
Acting, teaching Body language, Acting Mannerism and Cinema Industries. Which has been as a base and foundation platform of the all arts and entertainment oriented programmes in Pondicherry. Hypothesis This study very meticulously has analysed the growth rate of Performing art’s citations, academicians performances and research scholars contributions in strengthening department of performing arts have immensely applaudable one. At the same time, implications of the performing arts development have produced and increased huge citations in different journals.

Review of Literature For the present study the review of literature has been divided into sections. First section deals about role of the bibliometric studies on performing arts development and second one deals about contributions of department of performing arts on its modernisation and development. Thanuskodi, (2010). Bibliometrics is a research method used in library and information science. It is a quantitative study of various aspects of literature on a topic and is used to identify the pattern of publication, authorship, and secondary journal coverage to gain insight into the dynamics of growth of knowledge in the areas under consideration. This can lead to better organization of information resources, which is essential for effective and efficient use. Bibliometrics has attained sophistication and complexity with a national, international, and interdisciplinary character. Huang . (2006), bibliometric data has been used to describe and evaluate countries, universities, research institutes, journals specific research topics and specific disciplines.
Koehler. (2000). Bibliometrics is the most useful method for assessing the macro research output. Research sustains innovation and innovation is one of the main driving forces behind economic growth. Therefore the ability to estimate research performance is vital for Government to know the real worth of their research investments. Two different methods of evaluating research output are in practice by counting the number and share of publications and measuring citations of authors and their publications. These methods of measurement are widely implemented internationally also for the recognition of the contribution of authors even for recommendation of Nobel Prizes. Objective of the Study 1. This study attempts to comprehend the range and ratio of citations of the department of performing arts. 2. To what extent department of performing arts are strengthened by its academic literature works? 3. To comprehend the effective and dynamic research activities of the research scholars and academicians in the department of performing arts. 4. To analyse the interrelationship of the library science and performing arts in generating citations and literatures.
Methodology This study conspicuously adheres both descriptive and bibliometric methodology to achieve desired result and consequences with a solution to rectify the consequences and to amplify the result in research aspects.

Data Collections Since this study touch qualitative method it will be strengthened with the help of secondary sources energy. The candidate has been visited the various Libraries for collect data such as: Madras University Library, Pondicherry University Library, and personally the candidate has met the singers, Public entertainers, mushing programmers and other so many caricature Programmers.
Limitation
This study falls purely in analysing the academic works, citations, monograph, books, articles, magazines and personal essays on performing arts department development. Which explore the academic performances of the research scholars and academicians and heads of the department of performing arts in Pondicherry alone.
Delimitations of the Study Apart from the original domain it embraces the cinema artist, folk lore artists, village artist and other needful artist in generating citations, literatures and records .And it examines the interdependency theory of the library science and performing arts in contributing to compile issues based research and problem solving research.
Academic Initiatives of the Department of Performing arts
To promote the feelings of arts in every heart of people in Pondicherry the academic personalities are introducing, initiating, creating ,inventing and composing programmes and course which are most useful and vital for the present generation’s dreams achievements .In this ways the young generations are well coordinated with the arts academicians for do a new phenomenon in the events of performing arts for which each academicians are performing in a different unique ways to add sense of watching and listening various arts program in Pondicherry.

Above diagram shows the percentage and range of publications citations of the academicians of the department of performing arts past several years .In which the range of book publications have been increased lot ,the status of articles publications have been increase 3.2,monograph is increased 1.4 and finally the short notes have been raised up 1.2. Based on overall estimation of the citation India reveals that somewhat have been increased in Pondicherry region, range of book and articles publications are increased much more than monograph and short notes. According to the present employees’ strength in department of performing arts of Pondicherry seeming very less and marginal publications as per this studies’ citations explorations and conceptualisations .This trend will create a serous hurdles in the development of performing arts and also give huge problem to researcher when they search materials regarding to their research aspects. The modicum research activities of the huge professors working in the performing arts will leads to stun its growth and student and researcher life. Conclusion and Recommendations of the Study The bibliometric study of performing arts are very meticulative study which has been
