Trnavský samosprávny kraj venuje veľkú pozornosť environmentálnej politike a ochrane prírody. V roku 2007 sme začali projekt s názvom Mladé stromy pre Slovensko, v ktorom odvtedy každoročne pokračujeme. V našom regióne za každého zamestnanca Úradu Trnavského samosprávneho kraja a organizácií v zriaďovateľskej pôsobnosti kraja sadíme ročne jeden strom. Tieto stromčeky už prinášajú ľuďom radosť a zároveň prispievajú k zdravšiemu životnému prostrediu. To znamená poskytovanie najnovších poznatkov v teoretickej výučbe a získavanie vedomostí a zručností v praxi. Máme podpísaných veľa zmlúv, dohôd a memoránd s občianskymi združeniami, spoločenskými inštitúciami a organizáciami v našom kraji, ale vysoko si ceníme práve spoluprácu so zväzom záhradkárov, pretože svojou činnosťou prispievajú ku kultivovaniu krajiny a skrášľovaniu životného prostredia. V každom prípade to musia byť ovocné sady v systéme integrovanej produkcie. Veľká výmera starých sadov je s nízkou až žiadnou produkciou ovocia. Sadov s modernou technológiou máme iba necelých 2000 ha. Napriek tomu v týchto sadoch dopestujeme ročne 80% všetkého ovocia a vo veľmi dobrej kvalite. Ozdravené stromy majú až o 30% vyššie úrody, sú bez vírusových ochorení, a ak udržíme ich dobrý zdravotný stav, budú rodiť dlhšie. Celý pestovateľský cyklus ovocných stromov v maximálnej miere zaraďujeme do rôzneho rastlinného spoločenstva, a plne využívame variabilitu v šľachtiteľských procesoch pri tvorbe nových typov rastlín. Zebrafish sleep/wake behavioral profiling provides a high-throughput platform to screen chemicals, but has never been used to study extracts and components from TCM. In the present study, the ethanol extract of Schisandra chinensis and its two main lignin components, schisan- drin and schisandrin B, were studied in zebrafish. We found that the ethanol extract had bidirectional improvement in rest and activity in zebrafish. Schisandrin and schisandrin B were both sedative and active components. We predicted that schisandrin was related to serotonin pathway and the enthanol extract of Schisandra chinensis was related to seoronin and domapine pathways using a database of zebrafish behaviors. These predictions were confirmed in experiments using Caenorhabditis elegans. In conclusion, zebrafish behavior profiling could be used as a high-throughput platform to screen neuroactive effects and predict molecular pathways of extracts and components from TCM.

  • Dynamic Evolution and Phylogenomic Analysis of the Chloroplast Genome
www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN Dynamic evolution and phylogenomic analysis of the chloroplast genome in Received: 19 March 2018 Accepted: 31 May 2018 Schisandraceae Published: xx xx xxxx Bin Li1,2,3 & Yongqi Zheng1,2,3 Chloroplast genomes of plants are highly conserved in both gene order and gene content, are maternally inherited, and have a lower rate of evolution. Chloroplast genomes are considered to be good models for testing lineage-specifc molecular evolution. In this study, we use Schisandraceae as an example to generate insights into the overall evolutionary dynamics in chloroplast genomes and to establish the phylogenetic relationship of Schisandraceae based on chloroplast genome data using phylogenomic analysis. By comparing three Schisandraceae chloroplast genomes, we demonstrate that the gene order, gene content, and length of chloroplast genomes in Schisandraceae are highly conserved but experience dynamic evolution among species. The number of repeat variations were detected, and the Schisandraceae chloroplast genome was revealed as unusual in having a 10 kb contraction of the IR due to the genome size variations compared with other angiosperms. Phylogenomic analysis based on 82 protein-coding genes from 66 plant taxa clearly elucidated that Schisandraceae is a sister to a clade that includes magnoliids, monocots, and eudicots within angiosperms. As to genus relationships within Schisandraceae, Kadsura and Schisandra formed a monophyletic clade which was sister to Illicium. Chloroplasts are the photosynthetic organelle that provides energy for plants. Te chloroplast has its own genome. In angiosperms, most chloroplast genomes are composed of circular DNA molecules ranging from 120 to 160 kb in length and have a quadripartite organization consisting of two copies of inverted repeats (IRs) of approximately 20–28 kb in size, which divide the rest of chloroplast genome into an 80–90 kb large single copy (LSC) region and a 16–27 kb small single copy (SSC) region.

  • Schisandra Chinensis, Wu Wei Zi Or Chinese Magnolia Vine Sonia Schloemann, Umass Extension Small Fruit Specialist Sponsor: Chang Foundation ($8,000)
Project Title: Cultural Requirements for Cultural Production of Schisandra chinensis, Wu Wei Zi or Chinese Magnolia Vine Sonia Schloemann, UMass Extension Small Fruit Specialist Sponsor: Chang Foundation ($8,000) Project Description: Ever increasing public concern about healthy eating is opening a whole new market for exotic fruits and vegetables. Traditional Chinese medicine is becoming widely accepted as a healthy alternative to our traditional staple foods. Increased use of traditional herbs and medicinal plants has stretched the supply of these products, because most of them are imported in limited quantities directly from their places of origin. There is increased awareness of the potential ben efits for growing these products in the United States rather than rely on outside sources. Many of these plant materials are native to areas that have climates similar to various Ripe fruit on vines at Chang Farm in 2005. regions within the United States, raising the possibility of growing these plants domestically. Added benefits to developing domestic sources are better control over safety, freshness, and quality. One of the plants that has been used by traditional practitioners of Chinese medicine is Schisandra berry (Schisandra chinencis, Turc.), which in Chinese is known as five flavor fruit. The plant originates from upper China and Mongolia and is a hardy, woody, dioecious vine. The fruit is thought to provide treatment for heart, lung, and kidney problems among other claims. Cultivation requirements are thought to be similar to those of grapes. Dr. Chang, owner of Chang Farms located in Whately, Mass. has been cultivating Schisandra for over a decade and offers the juice of the berries for sale in the restaurant that he owns in Amherst, Mass.
