Tri-City Office Market Report November 2013 2 On Point • Tri-City Office Market Report • October 2013 Dariusz Bazeli General Director Geoban Polska “In 2008, Geoban established its branch offices in Poland. In its two office centres in Gdynia and Wroclaw, Geoban employs a team of more than 650 highly qualified professionals. As a result, the company can provide comprehensive banking services related to operational back-office services for businesses from the Santander Group in various countries. Geoban SA is a part of the Santander banking group, in which it plays an important role in implementing the group’s strategy for the management of operational risks, and for the implementation of effective policy actions through its centres located in eight countries.” Magdalena Reńska Head of Office, Gdańsk Jones Lang LaSalle “We are seeing increased interest in the Tri-City from developers and tenants. This trend is confirmed by the growing number of enquiries received both by Jones Lang LaSalle and institutions responsible for investor assistance. The market is dynamic and not only when newcomers from the modern business services sector are considered. Companies already established in the region, also appreciate the Tri-City and, as a consequence, improve local employment rates. In addition, potential tenants’ interest is having a positive impact on the office market, which can fulfill the tenants’ expectations in the area of location, availability and standard. This is in no small part due to the large amount of projects both existing and under construction”. Olivia Business Centre, Gdańsk On Point • Tri-City Office Market Report • October 2013 3 Why Tri-City? Improving transportation network and good connectivity • Access to the A1 motorway, the expanding ring road, new tunnel linking Wrzeszcz with Port Island • Regular and frequent flight connections with Polish and major and secondary European cities. -

The Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk will host the 2021 landscape forum in cooperation with Gdańsk Urban Development Association (FRAG). 1. Transforming Cityscapes with Art The LE:NOTRE Landscape Forum is a discourse-oriented and interdisciplinary event of four days duration. The forum focuses on local landscapes and the sustainability challenges they are facing. In accordance with the European Landscape Convention this includes outstanding as well as everyday or degraded landscapes in urban, peri-urban and rural environments. 1 The first landscape forum was held in Antalya, Turkey, in 2011. The event has continued on a yearly basis since then, moving across various European locations. In 2015, we introduced this competition in order to make the landscape forum more inclusive and relevant for the international student community. Since then, the outcomes of the student competition have greatly enhanced the quality and innovation potential of the forum as a whole. The landscape forum is a place for interdisciplinary exchange. Since the 10th Landscape Forum will be hosted by the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, our focus will be on exploring the role of the arts in sustainable landscape development. -

In the same year, at the Nation- al Library in Warsaw, an institution was created to launch an initiative for preserving collections on a scale unprecedented in Europe. At first, the Microfilm Station was in charge of producing surrogates of the most valuable monuments of writing that had survived the disasters of World War II. In the 1970s, its work was extended by a project of completing the collections of Polish newspapers and journals. In this way, over half a cen- tury of microfilming resulted in preserving integral series of periodicals as well as manuscripts, early printed books and music documents housed Polish Libraries 2015 Vol. 3 2015 Vol. Libraries Polish 20 Microfilming in Poland Microfilming in over 200 institutions in Poland and abroad. Furthermore, the collection of surrogates gathered by the National Library became the most complete scientific workshop for the Polish humanities. Photographic techniques in Poland up to 1950 Photographing teXts was first discussed in Poland in the interwar period. Scholars and custodians were aware of the potential that the new technology had, however, once Poland regained independence, the country’s institutions had to face more fundamental challenges, and the young state dealing with economic problems was unable to provide suitable funds even for the most ba- sic activity. -
