BRAMHALL AND CHEADLE HULME SOUTH 27 OCTOBER 2011 AREA COMMITTEE REVIEW OF POLLING DISTRICTS, POLLING PLACES AND POLLING STATIONS Report of the Service Director (Legal and Democratic Services) Summary: To present for consideration proposals for changes to Polling Districts and Polling Stations as a result of the Review of Polling Districts, Polling Places and Polling Stations. Information: The Electoral Administration Act 2006 makes a provision for all Returning Officers to carry out a Review of Polling Districts, Places and Stations by 31 st December 2007 and to carry out a subsequent review every four years. Following a review and initial consultation period the Returning Officer has suggested some changes to the current arrangements. These changes are in response to experience at recent elections and proposals from other interested parties. The suggestions and recommendations for each of the 21 affected Wards are summarised in the attached report and include the reason for specific proposals where changes have been suggested. Proposals for changes to Polling District Boundaries affect Reddish South, Stepping Hill and Manor Wards. Proposals for changes to Polling Stations affect Bredbury Green & Romiley, Heatons North and Reddish North Wards. The Executive will consider the proposals for changes to the current arrangements at its meeting on 7 November and will make recommendations to the Council meeting on 17 November. Recommendation: The Area Committees are requested to consider the proposals made to AGENDAITEM the polling district and polling station changes within their own Wards .
