HEDVIG HAUGERUD

Hedvig Haugerud is as a singer of rare charisma and intellect, with a voice whose emerging colour, power and personality are set to place her in considerable international demand. She is the latest gifted dramatic soprano to emerge from the tutelage of Susanna Eken at the Royal Academy in .

Hedvig was born in in 1994 and graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2017 as a dark mezzo-soprano. She studied for a year at the Conservatoire National et Supérieur de Musique de before enrolling as a soprano postgraduate student at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen where she studied roles including Tosca, Ariadne, Elsa, Sieglinde, Marie (Wozzeck), Elisabeth, Carmen, Die Mutter (Hänsel und Gretel), Arabella, the Marschallin and Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw).

On stage at the Royal Danish Opera, Hedvig sang Annina in David Radok’s production of La Traviata and Lady with Hat Box in the world premiere of Dominick Argento’s Postcard from Morocco. Her scheduled appearance as Mrs Pinkerton in Amon Miyamoto’s new production of Madama Butterfly was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her operatic repertoire range from Mozart and Donizetti to Debussy and Wagner and she has a considerable lieder repertoire including Sibelius, Grieg and Duparc.

Hedvig has worked with conductors including Michael Schønwandt, Richard Farnes, Giancarlo Andretta and Robert Houssart. In addition to tutelage from Elene Golgevit, Svein Bjørkøy and Folke Bengtsson, she has been coached by world-class singers including Anne Sophie von Otter, Bo Skovhus, Soile Isokoski and Randi Stene. Hedvig is the recipient of the Dobloug Foundation’s Masters Education Scholarship and the 2019 Sagken Talent Prize. She signed to Nordic Artists Management in 2021.
