Mezcal & Tequila Tequila is a type of mezcal, much like how scotch + bourbon are types of whiskey. Mezcal is defined as any agave-based liquor. This includes tequila, which is made in specific regions of Mexico & must be made from only blue agave- whereas mezcal can be made from more than 30 different varieties of agave.

Whiskey Whiskey is a broad category with many classes and types that can be made from barley, corn, rye and wheat. Typically aged in wooden casks generally made of charred white oak.

Bourbon Distilled since the 18th century, a type of American Whiskey that is made primarily from corn, aged in new charred oak. Although bourbon may be made anywhere in the United States, it is strongly associated with the American South and with Kentucky in particular.
