I believe some of you know that it was a desire in my heart POSTPOSto waTnt to come to Saint Brigid’s for a number o f years. Perhaps the first seed of that desire was planted back in the day when Father Frank was Why participate in a pastor and he asked me to help him one summer. There was something parish musical production? extraordinary about this parish that I loved. Sometimes it is hard to put into As you know, we are planning a words the desires of your heart. I just knew that this is a parish community parish musical production Mary where I felt called to serve, and I rejoiced when the opportunity was finally Poppins . Next week we begin the given to me. process of assembling a cast for the production -- so why not try Over these past three-and-a-half years, I have come to face a number of out and be a part of it? I find that challenges as a pastor, challenges which might tempt me to wonder whether putting our talents together to do or not my desire to come here was in fact from God. However, I think that something wholesome and fun is all people, especially married people, go through the same process. People another way of building fall in love, they feel called to go the next step and get married, and then community in the parish -- and it challenges emerge which can call into question the decision itself. From prison, he may even have heard that Jesus, During this season of Advent, we the one whom he came to proclaim, was also facing a rising tide of rejection. want to try to take some time to He wonders in prison, “Did I make a mistake? Don’t Miss Father Martin’s Advent Reflection On Wednesday evening, December 14th, at 7:30pm in the school chapel, our own Father John Martin will offer a presentation-reflection entitled, “An Adult Looks at Christmas.” We formed our first understanding of the true meaning of Christmas when we were children – our minds filled with images of the scenes of Bethlehem, shepherds and Magis, the wonder and awe of angels and a star that moved across the heavens. As we mature, so too we are invited to understand a more profound mystery of what the incarnation means – and God’s intense desire to dwell within us. But what exactly does that mean – and, more importantly, what will that cost? Come to Father Martin’s inspiring presentation on Wednesday, December 14th at 7:30pm in the school chapel.

Mary Poppins Coming to Saint Brigid’s Saint Brigid Players is proud to present “Mary Poppins” on the weekend of March 24 - 26. This great Disney classic captivates the hearts of old and young alike. And so we need the talent of old and young alike to make this happen! Some people remember times when they were onstage in grammar school or high school musicals and may remember how much fun it was to put on a show together – and the bonds of friendship that are forged in people working together, sharing their God-given talents. We want to offer that same experience to all of you – even those who never were on stage before in their life!

We will have auditions on Monday and Tuesday evening, December 12th and 13th in Code Auditorium beginning at 7:30pm. All people ages seven and older are invited to join us! Come down and be prepared to sing something – anything (even “Happy Birthday!”) and let’s see how together we can make something beautiful for our parish. It’s easier than you think – even easier than saying “Supercallifragilisticexpeolodotious”!

Advent Day of Reconciliation - Monday December 19 Once again, on Monday, December 19th throughout the afternoon and evening, we are offering the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation as we prepare for Christmas. Christmas is all about receiving -- receiving the love that the Father has for us. So often we have allowed embarrassment and even shame or self-loathing to get in the way of receiving that 14 which God so wants to offer us -- unconditional love and mercy. Throughout the day from 3:00pm until 9:00pm, we will offer the sacrament in all languages. Next week we will publish the schedule of priests and the hours they will be available. ...faithfully and joyfully serving Breezy Hill, Carle Place, East Meadow, New Cassel, Salisbury, South Westbury, Old Westbury and Westbury since 1850.
