Florida Tech Today | 3 PRESIDENT’S PERSPECTIVE Dear Florida Tech Alumni and Friends, This spring, we concluded our Create The Future capital campaign. It has certainly been a highlight of my tenure as your president, and a “final report” on this very successful effort appears in this issue of Florida Tech Today. Simply put, we shattered university fundraising records and set a new high for Space Coast philanthropy, raising $123.4 million. Levine © 2016 Donato Fhunsu ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT Donato Fhunsu: The Kongo Rule: The Palo Monte Mayombe Wisdom Society (Reglas de Congo: Palo Monte Mayombe) A Book by Lydia Cabrera An English Translation from the Spanish (Under the direction of Inger S. B. Brodey and Todd Ramón Ochoa) This dissertation is a critical analysis and annotated translation, from Spanish into English, of the book Reglas de Congo: Palo Monte Mayombe, by the Cuban anthropologist, artist, and writer Lydia Cabrera (1899-1991). Cabrera’s text is a hybrid ethnographic book of religion, slave narratives (oral history), and folklore (songs, poetry) that she devoted to a group of Afro-Cubans known as “los Congos de Cuba,” descendants of the Africans who were brought to the Caribbean island of Cuba during the trans-Atlantic Ocean African slave trade from the former Kongo Kingdom, which occupied the present-day southwestern part of Congo-Kinshasa, Congo-Brazzaville, Cabinda, and northern Angola. The Kongo Kingdom had formal contact with Christianity through the Kingdom of Portugal as early as the 1490s.

I första avsnittet får vi möta Christina Hendricks som tjänstebiträdet ”Chair”. Serien har Sverigepremiär den 7 februari och har redan fått blivit en internationell fframgång. Föreställ dig en kombination av den brittiska tv-succén ”Downtown Abbey” och dokusåpan ”Familjen Kardashian”, tillsätt musik från rapparen Snoop Dogg och konceptet för den nya komediserien Another Period är klart.     Battlebots Newsletter: Preparing for Competition March, 2021 As the newest design team, Battlebots has never competed before. Our first competition would have been in March of 2020. However, COVID cancelled all of our events that year. With that being said, the team will be competing with two robots this year: the 15lb robot from 2020 and the 30lb robot from 2021. Students are excited to finally be able to see their robots compete at Bots KC in Kansas City, MO and Norwalk Havoc Robot League in Norwalk, CT. Navigating the logistics of traveling safely to competitions has been a challenge, but we are hopeful everything will work out. The state of what is safe nowadays is always changing and we want to make sure we take all the precautions necessary to compete responsibly. In February, the team performed construction on building a full scale testing enclosure for our robots. The former 12ft square arena has been extensively upgraded. Measuring a full 16ft by 16ft with 8ft ceiling it meets the size of competition standards and allows our team to test and practice safely on a regular basis. The expansion was a whole team effort to construct. We tore down the old enclosure and used its components within the new arena to save cost of the material and manufacturing time. Now that the new box is complete, the team will really be able to see what the robots are capable of on a larger scale. Our new 30lb robot has been named “Option 14”. Its name is somewhat of an inside joke on the team.

Adam de Beer February 2014 ii Abstract This thesis develops an understanding of animation as transgression based on the work of Christopher Jenks. The research focuses on adult animation, specifically North American primetime television series, as manifestations of a social need to violate and thereby interrogate aspects of contemporary hetero-normative conformity in terms of identity and representation. A thematic analysis of four animated television series, namely Family Guy, Queer Duck, Drawn Together, and Rick & Steve, focuses on the texts themselves and various metatexts that surround these series. The analysis focuses specifically on expressions and manifestations of gay sexuality and sexual taboos and how these are articulated within the animated diegesis.
