The story of an Irish alcoholic in The Bronx is too good to forget so we dedicated this Negroni style drink to his memory. It is strong and boozy and not for the faint hearted.

Michael Malloy survived 20 attempts on his life in NY during the Prohibition era by an Italian group of gangsters called the “Murder Trust” as part of an insurance fraud.

It is a truly twisted story that involved rat poison, methyl alcohol, hit and run, horse liniment, spoiled sardine sandwiches and raw oysters soaked in wood alcohol. Not only Malloy survived all of the above but he kept going back for more as he had an unlimited tab in the gangster´s speakeasy. Eventually he did give up when a rubber tube connected to a gas tank was shoved down his throat but he lasted for half an hour. Needless to say the Murder Trust´s plan didn´t play out as they hoped.

After a quick funeral and a forged autopsy report, the gangsters collected the insurance money. Eventually the police heard the stories all over town and Malloy´s body was exhumed and re-examined.

The Murder Trust didn´t have a chance to spend the insuance money. After a quick trial they were all executed in the electric chair. Unlike Malloy they only needed one try. Ching Shih had one of the most amazing life stories and dedicating a drink to her with exotic flavours and fresh fruits was just too obvious. It’s a drink with ingredients made in house, and the result is a candy like flavour with a smooth silky texture.

She spent years with her 300 vessel strong “Red Fleet” smuggling and looting, taking on the biggest empires of her era. Surprisingly she survived and died rich and of old age. She ran a brothel and gambling house in Guangzhou China.

A drink dedicated to Elizabeth Bathory, the “Blood Duchess”. The woman who inspired the original Dracula stories and countless fairy tales in 16th century Europe. The Blood Duchess was responsible for the killing of up to 640 peasant girls.

At her trial witnesses spoke of “bathing in her victims blood” and “drinking blood to preserve her youth”. There were mentions of demonic ceremonies and witchcraft.

Most of “witnesses” were of course local farmers so it´s probably not the most reliable source of information.

Nonetheless the story of Dracula was born and Elizabeth made it into the World Guinness Records for “most prolific female murderer”.

By drinking the Churchill´s Breakfast our patrons support the program, giving a chance to bartenders from other countries to see Copenhagen and share their love for mixed drinks and the trade of bartending.

After having the necessary support, Gamble will visit cocktail bars outside Europe and organize the Exchange Competition for selected cocktail bars. The winner or winners of the Exchange Competition will visit us here in Copenhagen and spend a week with us.

Vincent Van Gogh drank alcohol to excess and he had a famous love affair with the “Green Fairy” or Absinth. This special was the muse to many throughout the years and we are no exception. This martini variation is not for everyone. It´s heavy on herbal flavours and high in alcohol content. Don´t drink on an empty stomach or if you consider cutting off your ear.
