This information came from conversations with the Creator and thousands of readings and healings, not to mention interaction with Vianna’s students and instructors and ThetaHealing® classes over a period of years. The ideas and processes were spontaneous in their formulation and never devised through the abuse of information from other established or unestablished energy-healing modalities. The definitive sources and resources that are used in ThetaHealing are available to all who wish to know. Springing from a conservative community in America, ThetaHealing has become a world-wide healing modality. In view of the considerable challenges that were experienced in its formulation, I am constantly amazed at how it has triumphed. Against all probability, it has indeed become a light in the darkness, a gift from the divine. There have been many people, all in their own way, who have contributed to making ThetaHealing the energy-healing modality that it has become. These are the clients, students, practitioners and certified instructors who, in varying degrees, have made contributions that cannot be overlooked. Nevertheless, no matter how many people have been involved in ThetaHealing, no matter how many people have taken these teachings into themselves, the inescapable fact still remains that it all came from the resolve, bravery and pure faith of one person: Vianna. Having witnessed the development first-hand, I can comfortably say that I have never seen such truth, faith and determination in a human being as I have in Vianna. To me, this is why she is the loving leader of ThetaHealing and the only person qualified to be so. I believe that this is why the information comes through her. Many people love God, but I have seen few stand in the light and presence of the divine with such conviction that God the Creator is real. The contents of this book come from Vianna’s visionary and physical experiences. It is offered as a guide to the ability of the mind to heal through the Creator of All That Is. The rest is up to you and your beliefs. Guy Stibal vi vii Preface Advanced ThetaHealing is the companion to the books ThetaHealing and ThetaHealing: Diseases and Disorders. In the first book, ThetaHealing, I explain the step-by-step processes of the ThetaHealing reading, healing, belief work, feeling work, digging and gene work, and offer an introduction to the planes of existence and additional knowledge for the beginner. This book provides an in-depth guide to belief, feeling and digging work and further insights into the planes of existence and the beliefs that I believe are essential for spiritual evolution. It does not include all the specific step-by- step processes that proliferate in ThetaHealing, though it is necessary to reach an understanding of these processes in order to fully utilize this book. ThetaHealing is a process of meditation that creates physical, psychological and spiritual healing using the Theta brainwave. While in a pure and divine Theta state of mind, we are able to connect with the Creator of All That Is thorough focused prayer. There is one requirement that is absolute with this technique: you must have a central belief in the Creator. The name is of lesser importance – I realize that the Creator has many different names, and God, Buddha, Shiva, Goddess, Jesus, Yahweh and Allah are all currents leading in a flow towards the Seventh Plane of Existence and the Creative Energy of All That Is. ThetaHealing has no religious affiliation. Neither are its processes specific to any age, sex, race, colour, creed or religion. Anyone with a pure belief in God or the creative force can access and use the branches of the ThetaHealing tree. The Creator has given us the fascinating knowledge you are about to receive. It is a compilation of information from the DNA advanced classes, the DNA 2 Advanced Manual and recordings, and is the prelude to DNA 3. On a dark moonless night in 2003, I was driving down the long road from work towards my home in the country. Suddenly I had a most amazing epiphany. I realized that it had been nine years since the beginning of my journey in ThetaHealing and I had come a long way. During those nine years, I had given thousands of readings and healings, taught numerous classes and written books on the ThetaHealing technique. But I had learned one undeniable truth: I still had much to learn. Driving down that lonely road along the Snake river, I heard the voice of the Creator telling me that I had finished my nine-year indentured service and would be entering a three-year period of being a teacher.

The concept picked up relevance as the s counterculture looked to- ward the Age of Aquarius as a utopian future of peace and equality. Move- ments aimed at social and personal transformation that emerged or were given new meaning in the s continue to shape New Age and Neopagan religions. Ideas about the expected new era vary among Neopagans and New Agers, just as they ranged in the s from social revolution to com- munal escape from society. But most agree that it will include a changed dy- namic between men and women, healthy diet, holistic healing practices, and peacefulness. Along with and related to holistic healing and feminist restructuring, en- vironmentalist concerns are seen as key in bringing about the transformation of society. Many New Agers and Neopagans believe that an ecologically vi- able relationship to the natural world will characterize the future age, when humans will live more harmoniously on earth. Some also believe the earth it- self, a living being that has been ill used by humanity, will bring about cata- clysmic changes, while others expect a gradual dawning of enlightened con- sciousness among large numbers of people to usher in the New Age. Instead of taking institutional geographies to be given and ®xed co-ordinates in the social ®eld, the paper seeks to understand how they are relational outcomes and eects that require constant upkeep. After characterising the New Age movement, in terms of its central cosmology and visions of transformation, the paper takes an actor-network theory (ANT) approach to the understanding of institutional geographies. Through analysing how New Age knowledges and practices travel through time and space, and utilising ANTÕs concept of Ôcentres of translationÕ, institutional geographies are taken to be active space-times that are both enrolled into New Age teachers and practitioners programs of action, and space-times that actively enrol teachers and practitioners. It is argued that the intertwining of dierent engineered actor-networks in and through these space-times maintains the New Age movement itself and thus examining institutional geographies can tell of the movementÕs shape or topology. A controversy over the work of David Icke is explored to reveal how institutional geographies are sites for regulation of what counts as New Age knowledge. Finally, this paper seeks, partially at least, to assess in terms of the ANT approach taken, the visions of transformation propounded by the New Age movement.

The mandate of the small island community of Erraid, and its parent organization the Findhorn Foundation, is to provide service to the world by educating guests on living more in tune with nature, Spirit, and fellow human beings. In order to facilitate this experience, they require the presence of short-term participants and long-term members. My research showed that although most short-term guests were satisfied with their experiences of Erraid, members struggled with their aspirations to live there permanently. “Human sustainability”, as the members called it, was difficult to achieve because of the tensions created by the conflicting reality of the Findhorn Foundation presenting itself as an alternative to the lifestyles in the “West”, while relying on that very system in order to exist and have people to “educate”. ii Acknowledgements I first and foremost wish to thank the reader for taking such precious moments of their time to dive into this lengthy thesis! The method is propagating quickly but so far no scientific evaluation has been conducted. One of the basic claims of ThetaHealing is that the experienced theta healer enters via a special meditation in a so called ‘theta state’. According to ThetaHealing alleged healing effects are taking place in this special state which is also induced in the patient by the healer. The name ThetaHealing originates from the fact that this ‘theta state’ is correlated with strong theta rhythmic activity patterns (4-7Hz) in the respective EEG of healer and patient. In this ongoing we assess this claim in a dual EEG study where we have recorded simultaneously EEG from 10 experienced Theta Healers and 10 naïve patients. Our hypotheses were that (i) the healers taught in this method will elicit theta rhythmic activity at will in their EEG. (ii) there will be an increase of theta rhythm brain activity in the patient once the ThetaHealer tried to connect to his/her state to the patient and (iii) there will be significant more correlational patterns between the healer’s and the patient’s EEG once both are in the so called theta state compared to a control condition.

In a “modernist” world, defined such that only the “physical” is scientifically real, where the physical is that which can be observed and measured with the physical senses and their technological extensions, it is not possible to make sense of non-physical beings such as devas and nature spirits.

Michelle Dawn Corbin, Ph.D., 2010 Directed By: Associate Professor, Meyer Kestnbaum, Department of Sociology In this study I argue that psychedelic substances served as a doorway through which spirituality entered the scientific laboratory to an unprecedented degree given their traditionally demarcated relationship by making spirituality more amenable to scientific paradigms and accessible to scientific methodologies. I conduct a feminist discourse analysis of the politics of knowledge enacted in this unique intersection of spirituality and science in the psychedelic sciences. I draw on feminist theories of science and knowledge which conceptualize science as a dominant knowledge constituted through and productive of the intersecting and historically hierarchical systems of power of race, class, gender and nation. Using discourse analysis techniques, I analyze a documentary archive I created through a theoretically driven sampling of the psychedelic sciences of spirituality from the 1930’s to the present. In Chapter 2, I analyze how spirituality was brought forward and negotiated in these sciences. I argue that psychedelic scientists utilized a range of what I call tactics of legitimation to justify the scientific study of these peculiar substances and the spirituality with which they are associated vis-à-vis dominant scientific knowledges and I analyze the attendant epistemological costs of this assimilation. In Chapter 3, I analyze the efforts to integrate psychedelic substances and the spiritual experiences they induce into western therapeutic assumptions and practices. I argue that their efforts to scientifically determine the mysticality of mystical experiences and their pursuits of scientific liturgical authority over the administration of psychedelic sacraments resulted in the emergence of a would-be psychiatric clerical authority.
