The MRF International Series with the MRF 2000 Formula Car was a great success attracting renowned young International drivers from Europe and Asia while the MRF 1600 provided a good platform for young Indian drivers in the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship. MMSC also introduced a novel concept in the FLGB 1300 Class for college students and Rookies which was well attended. The JK Tyre FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship with the Euro-JK FB02 Class has made waves across the country and internationally with its unique and one of a kind scholarship program for young talented Indian drivers coming from the ranks of karting and the Indian Formula Classes. To support the same, the FLGB4 class nurtured by JK Tyres has always produced some of the most exciting races in India. Tata once again created a huge impact in the Truck segment with their International Truck Race which also gave the unique opportunity to Indian drivers to take part and showcase their skills. This event has become a landmark event in the history of truck racing. Mahindra have surely and truly stamped their name in International Motorsport with astounding results in the Formula E Championship as well as in the MRF FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship. Their foray into the Moto GP with their own team has been unprecedented and vss Page 3 44th Annual General Meeting 26 th September 2017 we do hope that such endeavours will provide the required platform for our young Indian Riders and Drivers. Volkswagen has continued to up the ante by bringing out the new VW Ameo Cup Car. I have personally tested the car and I would like to congratulate VW Motorsport in providing our Indian drivers with such a technologically advanced race car. Indian drivers wanting to make a career in Touring cars and GT Cars Internationally now have the ideal platform to work on in the form of the VW Ameo Cup. VW Motorsport also continues to work with the Indian Rally drivers with the VW Polo Rally Car. Maruti has taken a great step in promoting grass root level motorsport in the form of the Maruti Suzuki FMSCI National Autocross Championship held across the country. Apart from this, Maruti has been the long standing sponsor for the most renowned Indian Cross Country Rally’s which also went International this year. The 2W segment has been no less in terms of growth in the involvement of manufacturers in the sport. It is also very satisfying to see manufacturers now competing against each other and supporting private teams in the National Championship. Honda, Suzuki, TVS and Yamaha have further consolidated their single make classes running along with the National 2W & 4W Racing Championships. This has allowed young riders to graduate into the National Racing Championships. It is also gratifying to note of the support given by Honda, Suzuki, TVS and Yamaha to their talented riders in International Championships. Indians in International Events It is heartening to note that we have issued approximately 160 No Objections Certificates for our Indian competitors to take part in International Events in 2016. It is even more heartening to note of the podiums and wins achieved by a host of young Indian Drivers and Riders at some very prestigious International Championships. Daly wins another Championship – this time in India It came down to a two man shootout; America versus England, Conor Daly against Jordan King. The ten race Indian MRF Challenge Championship would run the Cinal four races at the Madras Motorsports circuit in Chennai, India. It would be a no holds barred, winner take all shootout. but Daly would start the inal race fourteen points in arrears. Expert mechanics and engineers a r r i v e d f r o m England to make sure that all the Italian built Dallara chassis were ready to go. Indian newspapers and television channels followed the progress with full page and top billing stories each day. Within hours of Daly arriving in Chennai, he drew irst blood by being fastest in the opening practice session on Wednesday. King was second, just a tenth of a second behind. The track was bumpy and fast, with constant radius corners that made it very difCicult to pass. Things went wrong for Daly in qualifying when he ran almost two seconds off the pace, qualifying a lowly 13th for race one on Saturday, and 8th for race one on Sunday. The problem was traced to a signiCicant mechanical issue that was rectiCied for the races but Daly would have to come from deep in the Cield. The highly rated King had the upper hand and qualiCied fourth for race one on Saturday and second for race one on Sunday. The grid for race two on each day would be based on the morning race results, with the top six inverted.

The series helps the drivers to learn valuable skills about car set-up with their engineers as well as further their race craft. The cars themselves are well balanced with a good level of downforce and power to weight ratio. The venues are also very good with established circuits in UAE and India. We elected for Harri to participate in this series to best prepare him for F3. I feel it was very useful in this goal." – Adrian Newey OBE is a British Formula One engineer.
