Cellist -

Cellist and composer, he began his cello studies with Mº Giorgio Gasbarro and later with MºNagy Geza, both of them 1st Cello Teatro Massimo of , and he graduated with merit at the Conservatory of Music "A. Corelli "of Messina. He studied composition with Mº Marco Betta, one of the main italian composer. He followed the masterclasses of some of the most important international cellists such as Rohan de Saram (Arditti Quartet), at the "Academy of Performing Art" in Prague with Mº Csaba Onczay, with Mº Lluis Claret (Academia del Teatro del Liceu of Barcelona-España ) and with the M° Jennifer Landgridge at the Cambridge & Wingfield summer music (London). In 1998 he moved to Milan where he collaborated with the Filarmonica della Scala, playing with some of the most important conductors: R.Muti, G.Sinopoli, W.Sawallich, V.Gergiev, R.F.De Burgos, J. Conlon . At the "Lorenzo Perosi" International Music Academy in Biella, he attended, as an effectiv pupil, the cello classes held by Mº Enrico Dindo. At the end of 1999 he moved to London where he attended the masterclasses of specialization of the Masters Moray Welsh (1st cello of London Symphony Orch.), Rohan de Saram (Arditti Quartet), Paul Watkins (1st Cello BBC Symph.Orch. And soloist of Nash Ensemble) and at Trinity Music College the course held by Mº Mats Lindström. In 2001, he returned to where he continued his studies under the guidance of Mº Luigi Piovano (1st.Cello Acc.Naz.di Santa Cecilia) and Mº Andrea Noferini (1st Cello Fond.Teatro dell' di Roma); in the meantime he was called to play as 1st cello the with Regional Theater of Messina, the Salernitana Philharmonic Orchestra (Teatro G.Verdi), and with Malta National Orchestra. He has also played as First Cello in the following Italian : Orchestra of Rome and Lazio, Ravello Orchestra of Music, Orchestra MusicaRivafestival, Palermo Philharmonic Orchestra, Fantasy Ensemble, Philharmonic Orchestra Ruggero IIº, Chamber Orchestra Ruggero IIº, Orchestra of Festival of Sacred Music of Monreale, Bellini Symphony Orchestra etc ... As a rank-cello he has collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Southend Philarmonic Orchestra, the Found.Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Found.Teatro Lirico of , the A.Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra, the Found.Teatro Massimo of Palermo, the Teatro Regio Orchestra of Parma, Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonietta of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Symphony Orchestra of Rome, International Orchestra of Italy, Symphony Orchestra of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Sicilian Jazz Orchestra etc ... In 2005 he moved to Spain where he played and worked for five years. In Spain he won two auditions and held the role of Ayuda solista de violonchelo at the Orquesta de Cordoba for the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons. In September 2008 he also won the audition for cello-rank at the Gran Teatro del Liceu de Barcelona, where he collaborated in the season of symphonic works and concerts 2009/2010. At the end of 2010 he returned to Italy and began a constant collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra of the RAI in Turin and with the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, playing under the baton of conductors such as: M.Tilson Thomas, S Bichkov, J.Tate, A.Pappano, K.Petrenko, J. Valchua, R. McAdams, S. Denéve, J. Axelrod, C. Arming and often accompanying world-renowned soloists such as: M.Vengherov, M.Spivakov , V.Repin, S. Krilov, S.Gabetta, M.Maisky, S. Mintz etc ... He recorded for the Regent Record in London, the Cello Concert and chamber orchestra by Giovanni Sollima at the Girton College (Cambridge & Wingfield Summer Music) accompanied by the European Union Chamber Orchestra of Devon under the direction of Mº Julian Jacobson. In recital for cello alone in addition to numerous concerts in Italy (Rome, Milan, L'Aquila, Bologna, Pescara, Bari) he performed at the Sobiech Museum in Bautzen (Dresden), St.Vincentius Church (Amsterdam), Emmanuel United Reformed Church (London), Palacio de Benamejí (Ecija-Sevilla), Gran Teatro (Córdoba). From January 2011 he collaborates with the Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli and theaters of Bari, often playing as concertino, and with the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Calabria, the Foundation Teatro Massimo of Palermo and with the Foundation Sicilian Symphony Orchestra. In pop-jazz area he has collaborated with some of most important jazz musicians such, J.Hall, E.Rava, S.Bollani, A.Sandoval, M.Schneider, L.Dalla, R.Zero, R. Casale, L.Carboni, L. Barbarossa. Mauro Greco has composed the music of the short Ics Africa and Reproduction of A.Caruso, and K@biria, La Sirena and taken from the title of his own piece: De Alegre Mayo una Alborada Fresca (Video- art) of S.Giammona. His music was played in Casa della musica (Roma), Festival of Roccascalegna (Chieti), Anassimandro Festival (Palermo). He is published by Mnemes edizioni (Palermo), Edizioni dal Sud (Bari) and Diaphonia edizioni (Messina). Since 2014, he's cello teachear at the Liceo Musicale di Palermo.
