Testimonials Grand Alps Tour My participation in the Grand Alps tour has truly been a nice experience. I wanted to ride on an Edelweiss tour for a long time already and the best destination to choose for a first trip must be the Alps. That is why I decided to travel to Seefeld (Austria) and to start the Grand Alps Tour there. Getting to know people from Australia, Canada, Brazil and the USA was amazing and our group had a great time together. We all wanted to enjoy the landscapes, the roads, the food and the culture and our tour guides did a perfect job satisfying our needs. Riding across those gigantic mountains and going up and down so many times a day was just the best. In between all those passes the guides have chosen the right restaurants with delicious food. Every day offered us a magnificent surprise and every single mile we rode was just stunning. The Alps are great, the Dolomites are awesome and Italy, Switzerland, France and Austria towns are like fables. There don't exist the right words to express my feelings and the time I have had at the GRAND ALPS TOUR. 2,500 miles full of happiness. I really recommend it and will surely ride again with Edelweiss. Pablo Ospina, Colombia Impressions.

Questions about a Champion "If a misdeed arises in the search for truth, it is better to exhume it rather than conceal the truth." Saint Jerome. "When I wake up in the morning, I can look in the mirror and say: yes, I'm clean. It's up to you to prove that I am guilty." Lance Armstrong, Liberation, July 24,2001. "To deal with it, the teams must be clear on ethics. Someone crosses the line? He doesn't have the right to a second chance!" Lance Armstrong, L'Equipe, April 28, 2004. Between the World Road Champion encountered in a Norwegian night club, who sipped a beer, talked candidly, laughed easily and never let the conversation falter, and the cyclist with a stem, closed face, who fended off the July crowd, protected by a bodyguard or behind the smoked glass of the team bus, ten years had passed. July 1993. In the garden of an old-fashioned hotel near Grenoble, I interviewed Armstrong for three hours. It was the first professional season for this easygoing, slightly cowboyish, and very ambitious Texan. I left with a twenty-five-page interview, the chapter of a future book11 was writing about the Tour de France. I also took with me a real admiration for this young man, whom I thought had a promising future in cycling. Eight years later, in the spring of 2001, another interview. But the Tour of 1998 had changed things. Scandals and revelations were running rampant in cycling. Would my admiration stand the test? In August 1993, it was a happy, carefree, eloquent Armstrong, whom Pierre Ballester, met the evening after he won the World Championship in Oslo.

On May 13, 1909, the Giro’s first peloton of 127 riders (41 of the enrollees didn’t show up) met at the Piazzale Loreto in downtown Milan where La Gazzetta’s offices Red Devil, were situated. The eight-stage race went from Milan to Bologna and onward to Chieti, Naples, Rome, Florence, Genoa and Turin, returning to Milan on the 30th. Riders would cover 2,445 kilometers over eight stages, an average stage length of 306 kilometers, the Fist, not far from the Tour’s average. This was to be the shortest Giro ever. It should be noted that in the early years of bike racing distances were approximate. The various lengths we have for the first Giro, 2408, 2448, and 2445 kilometers—each from a dif- ferent but respected Italian writer—are all within the expected and the range of accuracy of the age. To minimize cheating and confusion, each of the riders was King of Mud photographed at the start for later comparison by the judges. Just as in the first couple of editions of the Tour, the Giro would allow several days of recovery between each stage. The riders faced roads that could only be described as menacing, especially in economically disadvantaged southern Italy.

  • Main Events During the Winter Season in Bormio
Bormio and the Alta Valtellina area are located in the centre of the Alps, in the midst of vast natural surroundings. The white of the eternal snow of the glaciers, the bright green of the woods and meadows, the blue of the sky and the transparency of the water are the colors that best describe its landscape. A paradise for sports, nature, art and culture lovers, as well as for relax and wellness during all seasons. The area offers more than 170 km of slopes for alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing. Moreover it gives you the possibility to ski even during the summer on the Stelvio Pass. Particularly fascinating are ski mountaineering and snowshoeing excursions on the paths of the Stelvio National Park, which during the summer turn into more than 600 km of trails to ride with your mountain bike or enjoy on foot. Furthermore, road bike fans can try some of the most demanding climbs that have given prestige to cycling in Italy and in all the world: Stelvio Pass, Gavia Pass and Mortirolo. A nine-hole golf course, an ice stadium, a curling rink, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a bowls court and infinitive other activities allow you to experience the unique pleasure of the mountains. A walk in the beautiful historical town of Bormio, with its churches, “palazzi” and museums will give you the occasion to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of other times. Last but not least you can relax your mind and body in the natural hot thermal water of the spas Bormio Terme, Bagni Nuovi and Bagni Vecchi, known since ancient Roman times.
