5 RECREATION Possibilities forPlay Make it a great day in the Lakes area From parklands to concert stages, Lakes area recreation offers fun and leisure for people of all ages and abilities. Thousands of acres of parks, dozens of lakes and miles of trails set the stage for community events, recreational programming, sports leagues and enrichment classes. The $1.1 million Scarlet’s Playground in Commerce Township opens in spring of 2020. Funded by grants and donations, the barrier-free playground spans 18,600 square feet—making it the largest ramped, inclusive playground in the Midwest. So, whether you’re heading to Scarlet’s Playground, bringing friends for a bike ride on the trails or taking time for a paddle, let the Lakes area be the place where you have fun and build memories.
