    New Document Releases MI5 Files Introduction These pages offer a brief overview and description of some of the most interesting files within the latest release of Security Service records. This is the seventh and largest Security Service release, consisting of approximately 200 files, bringing the total number of MI5 records in the Public Record Office to 919. As with previous releases, the bulk of records are personal files, relating to agents, double agents, intelligence officers and renegades, or those under suspicion of being so, the large proportion of which relate to Germany during the period 1939-45. Na de invasie in juni 1944 vertrok FAK 306 onder leiding van Major Adolf von Feldmann uit Parijs, op weg naar het noorden.1 In september bereikte het FAK Nijmegen en kwam via Hengelo en Borkulo in Enschede terecht; eind maart 1945 vertrok het naar Duitsland, waar het in het westelijk deel van de provincie Hannover neerstreek.2 Via Leitstelle III West kreeg ook FAK 306 opdracht een R-Netz op te richten; volgens Bleicher van het FAK moet dat begin september 1944 zijn gebeurd. In oktober was het te beheren gebied een streek ruwweg liggend binnen de driehoek Enschede-Münster-Duisburg die in vier regio’s was verdeeld.3 In deze regio’s waren onge- veer 25 agenten geïnstalleerd, waarvan een deel voor hun berichtgeving met postduiven zou gaan werken. Na de oorlog verklaarde Von Feldmann dat linecrossers niet voldeden en dat daarom werd geëxperimenteerd met dui- ven. Hij refereerde hier aan de in 1942 aan Ast Münster verstrekte opdracht in Nederland een berichtennet – Gerken van die Ast noemde het een Brieftauben R-Netz – op te richten.4 Gerken was niet geheel zeker van het tijdstip, hij noemde eind 1942 of begin 1943, maar op grond van de eerder behandelde Georg Mekel – op een verzoek uit 1942 van Doktor Busch begin 1943 gerekruteerd – is 1942 aannemelijk. De verantwoording voor dit net lag bij Gruppe I van de Ast, maar de uitvoering werd verzorgd door Referat III F.
