It’s amazing when something that turns up so rarely suddenly comes out of the woodwork on a few occasions in a short period of time. That’s what’s happened this year with the Walsh’s Football Cartoons. Regular readers might recall that I’ve written about these on a few occasions this year, most of them back in April. At first, I said I had only seen 13 different cartoons, which were drawn by the famous Paul Rigby and printed on glossy A4 paper back in the 1960s. But Kevin dug out a couple of scrapbooks from his childhood and found another six I had never seen, taking the total to 19. Kevin’s collection also allowed me to date some of the cartoons to 1966 and 1967. Then Colin, from Meadow Springs, turned up another pile of them. Suddenly, I had seen 29 different cartoons, all dating to 1966 and 1967. But I was still left wondering how many were made, in total, and whether they were their shine, eight 1965 Mobil only issued in 1966 and 1967. cards sold for a combined total Well, we’re edging closer to an answer. of $105 at auction. This means that Trinity Aquinas, which sits in seventh spot, can still make finals if it can win the next two matches. Wembley, West Coast and Whitford have no chance of making finals and will finish in the bottom three spots. All three teams are sitting in dangerous positions with relegation looming for the two sides who finish ninth and tenth. Whitford and West Coast will battle it out this week with a win to West Coast potentially moving them into eighth spot while a comfortable win to Whitford could move it into ninth and one win away from eighth. » Last year’s premiers Trinity Aquinas can still make finals with solid wins over the next two weeks.
