It includes security, political, sociological, psychological, technological, and other dimensions. This is a collection of Op- Ed‘s written by Dr. Hamid. These articles address the phenomenon of Radical Islam from several angles and address these different dimensions to suggest some approaches to deal with radicalization. Copyright by Dr.Tawfik Hamid 2011 5 Glossary Al-Azhar: the most reputable Islamic University in the world. Al-Buchary: the most authentic Hadith (sayings of prophet Mohamed) book in Sunni Islam. Apostates: a Muslim who converted from Islam to other faith or rejected one of its basic fundamentals. At-Targheeb Wat-Tarheeb: Targheeb is to encourage Muslims on applying Islamic edicts and Tarheeb is to warn them with hell fire if they did not do so. Baha'i: a relatively modern faith that believes in global peace. Bukhari: same as Al-Buchary (Al- means ‗the‘) Burqa: Islamic face cover for women. Caliphate: worldwide Islamic empire that implement Sharia (Islamic Law). Fatwa: statement by Islamic scholars to establish and Islamic religious edict and rule. Hadith: words and deeds of prophet Mohamed during his live (it does not include the Quran which is seen as the words of God himself) Hijab: Islamic head scarf for women. Hizb Ut Tahrir: an Islamic organization in the UK. Imam: Islamic leader or scholar Jizia (Jizya): a form of humiliating tax that Non-Muslims MUST pay to Muslims when the latter are majority and controlling the country. Mecca: Most holy city in Islam Minhaj Al-Muslim: a bestselling Islamic book for Islamic jurisprudence that is printed and distributed worldwide. Mulla: Islamic scholar or leader Niqab: an Islamic dress for women that covers completely her face and body Copyright by Dr.Tawfik Hamid 2011 6 Glossary Continued Sahih Albuchary: same as Al-Buchary Sahih Al-Bukhari: same as Al-Buchary Salafi: a form ofregressive and literal way of thinking within Islam. Sheikh: Islamic scholar. Shia: the biggest sect in Islam after Sunni Islam. It exists is several parts of the world, however, it is more common in Iran, Iraq, and eastern parts of the Arab peninsula. Sufi: a Mystical and Non literal way of thinking within Islam (Note Sufi Movements does not necessarily follow the ultimate Sufi way of thinking) Sunna: words and deeds and biography of prophet Mohamed Sunni: a person who follow the Sunna of Mohamed Sura: A chapter of the Quran is called Sura. The Quran has 114 Sura(s)Each chapter is divided into verses. Tabari: a well-known and highly reputable Islamic book about the biography of prophet Mohamed Umma: Islamic nation that includes ALL Muslims worldwide. Wahabbi: a sect of Islam that has been created and is currently very influential in Saudi Arabia. Its aim is to implement Sharia rules in the country. It provides a brief overview of the rise of anti-Muslim and anti-Islam sentiment known as “Islamophobia”, and it investigates claims that American Muslims cannot be trusted to be loyal to the United States because of their religion. This research examines American Muslim perspectives on national security discourse regarding terrorism and radicalization, both domestic and foreign, after 9/11. The article argues that it is important to highlight developments, both progressive and conservative, in Muslim communities in the United States over the last 12 years that belie suspicions of widespread anti-American sentiment among Muslims or questions about the loyalty of American Muslims. The article concludes with a discussion of important shifts from a Muslim identity politics that disassociated from American identity and ‘American exceptionalism’ to a position of integration and cultural assimilation.

At the same time, media coverage has begun to focus on anti-Muslim activists in the United States and their corrosive effects on American pluralism.2 Within a national security and law enforcement context, there is no denying that extremists constituting the leadership of Al-Qaeda and its affiliates explicitly articulate their justifications for violence in “worldly” political terms – including the now-deceased Osama Bin Laden.3 They have also manipulated religious beliefs for their propaganda and terrorism recruitment purposes.

    Muslim supporters of Israel 1 Muslim supporters of Israel Muslim supporters of Israel are Muslims who support self-determination for the Jewish people, and a homeland for them in Israel. This support should not be confused with support for the policies and actions of the modern Israeli state. Some Muslim clerics, such as Sheikh Prof. Abdul Hadi Palazzi, Director of the Cultural Institute of the Italian Islamic Community,[1] [2] and Imam Dr Muhammad Al-Hussaini[3] believe that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land, and the establishment of the State of Israel, are in accordance with teachings of Islam.[4] [5] Some Muslim supporters of Israel consider themselves 'Muslim Zionists'.[6] [7] [8] Muslims who publicly supported Zionism include Dr. Tawfik Hamid,[9] Tashbih Sayyed, a Pakistani-American scholar, journalist, and author,[10] and the Bangladeshi journalist Salah Choudhury. Additional Muslim people who voiced public support for Israel included figures such as Irshad Manji, Salim Mansur, Abdurrahman Wahid, Abdullah Saad Al-Hadlaq, Zuhdi Jasser and Khaleel Mohammed.[11] In the Muslim world, support of Israel is a minority orientation, and supporters of Israel have at some occasions faced intolerance and violence.[12] [13] History Middle Ages According to British-based Imam Muhammad Al-Hussaini, traditional commentators from the eighth and ninth century onwards have uniformly interpreted the Qur'an to say explicitly that the Land of Israel has been given by God to the Jewish people as a perpetual covenant.[3] [14] Hussaini bases his argument

Now, Labour has said it will not go through with the deal if elected to government if it means Scottish workers are disadvantaged… Labour’s public services spokeswoman, Jackie Baillie, said: “A week after the Scottish Government was forced to disclose details of this deal further questions remain. It is unacceptable that the Scottish public still don’t have all the details on this. We know that Nicola Sturgeon signed up to a secret deal worth potentially £10 billion with a Chinese company accused of alleged gross corruption. He is currently a research associate at the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a member of the board of directors of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East. Dr. Küntzel is the author of Jihad and Jew-Hatred: Islamism, Nazism and the Roots of 9/11 and The Germans and Iran: Past and Present of a Fateful Friendship (in German). His essays on Islamism, antisemitism and Iran have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, The Jerusalem Post, Die Zeit and elsewhere. Many Iranians—including those in exile—claim that currently there is not any antisemitism in Iran. They point to the fact that the Jews of Iran today constitute the largest Jewish community in any Muslim country, which is true, and that even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad does not attack “the Jews,” but rather “the Zionists.” At the same time, no other regime in the world is as antisemitic as that of the Mullahs in Tehran. It is true that Ahmadinejad does not attack “the Jews,” but instead claims that “two thousand Zionists want to rule the world.”1 He says, “For sixty years now, the Zionists have blackmailed all Western governments.”2 “The Zionists have imposed themselves on a substantial portion of the banking, financial, cultural and media sectors.”3 “The Zionists” are responsible for the Danish Muhammad cartoons. “The Zionists” are responsible for the destruction of the dome of the Golden Mosque in Iraq.4 Of course, he invests the word “Zionist” with exactly the same sense with which Hitler once invested the word “Jew”: namely, that of being the incarnation of all evil.
