History of the General Authority for Passenger Transport and Facilities الماضى المستقبل History of the General Authority for Passenger Transport and Facilities (1) Ramleh tram facility: • In August 1860, the Egyptian government granted Sir Edward John Fermann, the merchant and the British government parish, a privilege to build a railway linking the suburb of Raml in the heart of Alexandria. The total population of this suburb at the time was no more than 500 inhabitants. • In April 1862, a company was founded on behalf of the railway company of sand and put the first railway bars in September 1862 in the area of the obelisk Cleopatra (now the sand station). • In January 1863: the line was opened to transport the public with one train driven by horses. • In August 1863, a steam locomotive was used to tow the train instead of horses. The train was made up of a first class vehicle, two second-class cars and a third car. The fare was six piasters for the first class, four piasters for the second and two for the third. This steam train would cut the distance from the sand station to Bolkley in 20 minutes, including waiting at the stations. • In January 1904, the tram line was electrified and the electric vehicles were used to transport the passengers. All the areas of the line were extended from Raml station to the current Saraya station. • In January 1929, the Railways Administration managed the Raml Electric Railway under the supervision of a government board of directors and appointed the line as a government director. In January 1937: The Sand Railway took advantage of all the bus lines in Raml and Alexandria after the endTemporary licenses granted to certain individuals and bodies. • In 1939, a royal decree was issued to consider the sand railway as a legal entity in the name of the Joint Transport Administration in the sand, and to use the bus lines with sand and the city beside the tram tram. (2) City tram facility: • In January 1896: A decision was issued by the Municipal Council of Alexandria to grant Mr. Kudry the privilege of running some tram lines in Alexandria. • In September 1897, the first line of the city's tram lines was built between St. Catherine and Sakhnah. The lines were then established: the customs line and the Seven-Girls Street line.In 1900, the company established Wabor Water Line, Al-Moqas, Moharram Bey Line, Customs and St. Catherine-Customs LineSt. Catherine's line - as the symbols and line of the station Egypt - Ras Al Teen. • In April 1946: the era of the company ended and the municipality of Alexandria managed the facility. In February 1947: The Joint Transport Administration was entrusted with the transport of the city's tram lines. (3) bus facility • In January 1934: Al-Raml Railway Company operated five buses between the field of Muhammad Ali and the sand beside the other bus companies. • In January 1937, the company was entrusted with exploiting all bus lines with sand and city. • In April 1939: the Joint Transport Administration took over the administration of the bus facility.Run the three facilities together: • In April 1939, a decree was issued that the railway administration of the electric tram would be considered a legal entity under the name of the "Joint Transport Department in the sand" and it was used to use all the bus lines with sand and the city in addition to the tram railway. • In October 1946, a decree was issued to establish a department called "The Joint Transport Administration for Alexandria and its Suburbs". • In February 1947: it was entrusted with the administration of the city's tram station, in addition to the tram lines of the sand and the bus. Decisions to establish the Authority • In 1954, the Presidential Decree No. 22 of 1954 was issued, which stipulates the establishment of the Public Transport Department in the Alexandria area. It is based on all public transport facilities for passengers. It may carry out any use related to transport affairs or supplement it or supplement it. Alexandria may not be licensed to do any of these works • In 1965: The decision of the President of the United Arab Republic No. 4494 of 1965 was issued considering the Public Transport Department of the City of Alexandria as a "General Authority for Passenger Transport" The Authority's efforts to improve public transport 1- Studies conducted on the development of passenger transport Year of Donor / Government Type of study the cost The results of the study study Feasibility study for the The economic inefficiency of the construction of a subway in Alexandria subway and Italy as a request for 1982/1985 Alexandria on one of the two 3 million dollars recommended the rehabilitation preservation Trans Systems tracks (Freedom Road or Tram of the tram of the sand to be an El Raml) urban metro Feasibility Study (Engineering The construction of an urban France Systra company as a Consultations) for the metro from Abu Bakr to Victoria request from the Ministry of establishment of an urban Project is superficial and highVictoria 1996-1998 Transport for the French side as metro project from Abu Bakr to implementation Victoria -Victoria Virtual - a work grant to study the work Amiriya. Date Prepared By Description Hend Kesseba, Environmental I 9.12.2018 Specialist Draft I Anan Mohamed, Social Expert Hend Kesseba, Environmental II 27.2.2019 Specialist Final I Anan Mohamed, Social Expert Hend Kesseba, Environmental Final June 2019 Specialist Final II Anan Mohamed, Social Expert 2 ESIA study for Raven Pipeline Executive Summary Introduction The Government of Egypt (GoE) has immediate priorities to increase the use of the natural gas as a clean source of energy and let it the main source of energy through developing natural gas fields and new explorations to meet the national gas demand. The western Mediterranean and the northern Alexandria gas fields are planned to be a part from the national plan and expected to produce 900 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) in 2019. Raven gas field is one of those fields which GASCO (the Egyptian natural gas company) decided to procure, construct and operate a new gas pipeline to transfer rich gas from Raven gas field in north Alexandria to the western desert gas complex (WDGC) and Amreya Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant in Alexandria. The extracted gas will be transported through a new gas pipeline, hereunder named ‘’the project’’, with 70 km length and 30’’ inch diameter to WDGC and 5 km length 18” inch diameter to Amreya LPG. The proposed project will be funded from the World Bank(WB) by the excess of fund from the south-helwan project (due to a change in scope of south helwan project, there is loan saving of US$ 74.6 m which GASCO decided to employ it in the proposed project).
