Writers stick to sub-intrigue in abundance, but never use them to offer dramatic scale and deep stakes on a film that is sorely lacking in sophistication. As for his physical injuries, no problem, Adonis is back on his feet space in a quarter of an hour, while it would be more effective to further develop the effects of psychological suffering associated with violent defeat, the difficulties of re-education. There was also another way to enrich this scenario, on Drago's side. Indeed, the most interesting character is Ivan Drago's son, Victor Drago. Raised by his father, defeated by Rocky Balboa a few decades earlier, Victor was brought up in this hatred of the past, in the ambitions and hopes of the latter, who dreams to regain his former glory and love for his mother's homeland, Russia, a country where he has no place after the defeat. On that day Ivan lost even his wife's love, and it was feeding this fury that he raised his own son in a selfish way to restore the concerns of the great Russian scientists, as can be seen from the sequence in which he and Victor are invited to visit Russian billionaires. The whole part would be interesting to develop, through memories, scenes about the post-game between Ivan and Rocky and the brutal way he was liberated by his country and the people who were supposed to love him, but also about Victor's youth, how he had to cope with this maternal loss and this aggressive education, with more intimate sequences, to soak up his pain and better understand the intensity and impact of the issues. Unfortunately, the staging of American heroes and more seller than Russian heroes, who, constantly, will always be enemies of the United States of America. In spite of everything, I emphasize the end of the film and this touching session of sport between father and son, where fraternal bonds arise, while Ivan finally realizes that we can not constantly cultivate hatred for others or teach that only the love of his people matters. It's a very beautiful moment. Creed II is however preserved by its realization, especially those concerning sequences in the ring. The second duel between Creed and Drago, even if we know the final result, has a thrilling dramatic magnitude and breathless suspense, feeling partly due to the violence of the beats, emphasized somewhat well-arranged slow motion and percussion sound/sound mixing, so that we feel the beats as if we got them ourselves. And when Draco falls on the carpet, it's a huge relief we can finally breathe and stop holding our breath. To be able to give such power in a sequence where we know the pre-result, this is a real tour de force and just for that, Creed II is a success. The political context, of course, when we analyze Creed II, we quickly realize that it has a lot in common with Rocky IV, including the confrontation between a good American and a bad Russian. Goodbye Rocky Balboa Finally, one of the most touching scenes that completes the story of Rocky Balbo, where the former boxing star decides to visit her son, after years of absence. It was then that Sylvester Stallone had the sophistication that appears on screen, modest, confusing sincerity, a delicious moment and a beautiful ending for this iconic character who has been Rocky Balboa for 43 years. A cinematic legend who knew the best, the worst, along with the sublime and grotesque, competing with both unforgettable and stupidity. In conclusion, Creed II is an effective entertainment, however, the means and clumsy script spoil the entire film, where ambition seems to have been evicted in favor of narrative contempt sufficiently denied. Fortunately, the actors save the film, drowning and floating in this ocean, where there is a seemingly extraordinary letter.
