Federica Mogherini High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy European Commision Dear Ms. Mogherinim It is my honor to transmit to you, the deep concern of 50 Nobel Prize Laureates for the health of Leyda Güven and others now engaging in hunger strikes to press the very humanitarian demand that the government of Turkey end its solitary confinement of Abdullah Öcalan and other political prisoners. Our joint appeal follows below. We urge the European Commission to take all appropriate steps to ensure that Turkey ends this flagrant denial of fundamental Human Rights. The Turkish government, as do all governments, has the obligation to ensure the life and dignity of all persons, including in particular those whom it holds prisoner, above all other considerations. Thank you for your urgent attention. We would like to be kept informed of the actions that you take in this regard. With my fraternal greeting of Peace and Wellbeing, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 1980 -Buenos Aires, 23 January 2019
