RECOMMENDA TIONS:

A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square southerly of and between numbered locations 241 and 25j as shown on Sheet 18 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the installation of the name of Javier Bardem at 6838 Hollywood Boulevard.

B> Inform the Hollywood.Chamber of Commerce of the Council's action on this.matter,

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on November 8, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT:

No General Fund Impact. All cost paid by permittee.

1. Unnumbered communication dated October 10, 2012, from the Hollywood Historic Trust of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, biographical information and excerpts from the minutes of the Chamber's meeting with recommendations. City Council - 2 - C. D. No. 13

DISCUSSION:

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walle of Fame the name of Javier Bardem. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23.

As Spain's most internationally acclaimed actor, JAVIER BARDEM has captivated audiences worldwide with his diverse

performances. In 2008, Bardem received the Academy Award@ for Best Supporting Actor for his chilling portrayal of sociopath killer, , in Joel and Ethan Coen's . The performance garnered a Golden

Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA, and countless film critic awards and nominations.

Bardem will next star in , the 23rd adventure, as the villain, opposite Danie! Craig as Bond and Judi

Dench as M. Bardem will also soon star in 's film, , featuring an all-star ensemble that

includes and Rachel McAdams. The film follows the story of a romantic drama centered on a man who

reconnects with a woman from his hometown after his marriage to a European woman falls apart

Bardem recently co-produced and starred in Sons of the Clouds: The Last Colony, a film documenting how the

colonization of the has left nearly 200,000 people living in refugee camps. In October 2011, Bardem and

his co-producer Alvaro Longoria, the film's director, addressed the United Nations General Assembly's decolonization

committee, urging the delegates to end human rights abuses in the region. The film premiered at the 620d annual Berlin

International Film Festival in January and has since been acquired by Canal Plus in Bardem's native Spain.

Bardem was awarded the Best Actor prize at the 2010 for his performance in Alejandro tnnaritu's

BiutifuL This performance also earned him his third Academy Award nomination. Bardem received his first Academy
