Chapter – 5 My Home

Explanation of the chapter :- * Need of a House – Every living being needs a house. Our house saves us from heat, cold, rain and danger. The house in which live with our family is our home.

* Parts of a House A house is made up of many parts.  Wall  Ceiling  Doors  Windows  Floor

* Rooms in a house :- 1. Drawing room  Guests are entertained in their room. 2. Dining room We have lunch and dinner in the dining room. 3. Kitchen  Mother cooks delicious food in the kitchen. 4. Bedroom  We take rest and sleep in the bedroom. 5. Study room We study in the study room. 6. Bathroom  We brush and bathe in the bathroom.

Types of Houses

Houses are of different types. Different materials are used to make a house. i) Hut A hut is made up of mud and grass. ii) A bungalow  A bungalow is made up of bricks , cement and iron. iii) Caravan A caravan is made of metal and wood. iv) Tent A tent is made of canvas cloth. v) A houseboat A houseboat is made of wood. vi) Igloo An igloo is made of ice blocks.

Work in a House

All the members of a family share the work in a house.

Work Parents Do * Parents work hard for the family. * Father  He works in an office. He earns money for the family. He also buys things for family members. * Mother  Mother works at home. She cooks food for the family. She washes our clothes. She takes care of us when we fall ill.

She also help us to do our homework.

Work children do :- * Children help to clean the house. * They help the mother in the kitchen. * They keep things at their proper places. * They also water the plants everyday. * Our parents love us the most, we must respect our parents.
