Withthe2008OlympicGamesheldinBeijing,theSportforAll GameswillbeanothersportgalaheldinAsiathisyear.Itwill Mr.FengJianzhong beaplatformtoshowcasethevarioustraditionalsportsinAsia PresidentofASFAA andfurtherstrengthentheexchangesinthefieldoftraditional sportsamongdifferentcountriesandregions.

Mr.FengJianzhongvisitedTAFISAheadquartersonMay26th.HemetwithMr.WolfgangBaumann,SecretaryGeneralofTAFISA, andMr.BrianDixon,TreasurerofTAFISA.Mr.BaumanngaveabriefintroductionofTAFISAandtheyexchangedopinionsaboutthe cooperationandcommunicationbetweenTAFISAandASFAA.
Mr.BaumannsaidthatTAFISAhasapermanentheadquarterwithafull-timeSecretaryGeneralinFrankfurtsince2006.TAFISAis growingconstantlywiththefollowingthreeaspectsinthepasttwoyears.
1.RecruitingMoreMembers SincetheArgentinaCongressinOctober,2007,TAFISAhasrecruited38newmembersandreceived15membershipapplications. Atpresent,TAFISAhasatotalof210memberorganizationsfrom125countries/regions.
2.EstablishingContactwithInternationalSports,CultureandScienceOrganizations TAFISAhassignedacooperationagreementwithIOC.AsanIOCrecognizedinternationalsportsorganization,TAFISAhasactively promoteditscooperationwithotherinternationalsports,cultureandhealthorganizations.Ithasestablishedthemechanismofregular communicationandcoordinationwithIOC,UNESCOandWHO.
3.ActivelyOrganizingVariousEvents TheregularprogramsofTAFISAincludeInternationalChallengeDay,WorldWalkingDay,andFestivalofTraditionalSports.TAFISA haslaunchedaCertifiedLeadershipCoursesincelastyearandregularlyholdsCertifiedLeadershipCoursesworldwide.OnJan. 23rd,2008,the3rdTAFISACertifiedLeadershipCoursewasheldinChineseMacau.ThenextCertifiedLeadershipCourseswillbe heldinSouthAfricaandTanzania.TAFISAhasplannedtopromotetheprogramofActiveCitiesoftheWorldinnearfuturetocarry outtheappraisalforthecities,communitiesandcollegesactivelypromotingsportforall.
DuringhisvisitinGermany,Mr.FengJianzhongmetwithMr.MichaelVesper,DirectorGeneralofGermanOlympicSportFedera- tion.Mr.VesperexpressedhiswarmwelcometotheChinesedelegation,andexpressedsympathytoWenchuanearthquakevictims onbehalfofMr.ThomasBach,PresidentofGermanOlympicSportFederation.Heappreciatedtheeffortsmadeinthepreparation forthe2008BeijingOlympicGames,especiallyintheOlympicvenueconstruction.
6 OnMay27th,Mr.FengJianzhongmetwithMr.WaltherTroger,ChairmanoftheIOCSportforAllCommission.Mr.Walthermadean introductionaboutthedevelopmentofsportforallinGermany.Thereare90,000publicclubsinGermany,with1/3ofthepopulation astheirmembers.Theyusesportfacilitiesincommunitiesandcitiesataverylowcostorforfree.Besides,therearemanynon-pub- licclubsinGermanywhichmakefitnessprogrammesfortargetgroups.
Mr.FengJianzhongalsomadeanintroductionaboutthedevelopmentofsportforallinChina.TheBeijingOlympicGamesen- hancedChinesepeople'senthusiasminsportforall.Moreover,ChinesesportsorganizationsdevelopedtheprogramofSportforAll GoesHandinHandwiththeOlympicGamesandheldmorethan70nationwideeventseveryyear.

1.AttendingtheTAFISABoardMeeting AttheinvitationofTAFISA,Mr.FengJianzhongwaspresentattheTAFISABoardMeeting,andmadeanintroductionaboutsportfor allinAsian-OceaniaRegionaswellasthedevelopmentofASFAA.Inhisspeech,hestressedthefollowingcharacteristicsofsport forallinAsian-OceaniaRegion:moreactivitiesandmoreparticipants;thecoordinateddevelopmentbetweentheOlympicGames andsportforall;moreattentiontosportforallpaidbymoregovernmentdepartmentsandnon-governmentorganizationswiththe rapiddevelopmentofeconomyandpeople'slivingstandards.
Mr.JoelRaynaud,PresidentofESFAN,andMr.RodolfoValgoni,PresidentofPanAmericanSportforAllAssociationrespectively madeanintroductionaboutsportforallintheirregions.ESFANwasfoundedinNovember,2005andhad26memberorganizations. PanAmericanSportforAllAssociationwasfoundedinArgentinaonSeptember27th,2007andhad14memberorganizations.To attractmoremembers,PanAmericanSportforAllAssociationhasplannedtoestablishthedatabaseofsportforallorganizations, andregularlyholdworkshopsandevents.

EnhancedSportsEducationProgrammetoPromoteMoreOpportunitiesforPlayinSchools TheSSCintroducedtheSportsEducationProgramme(SEP)inprimaryschoolstojuniorcollegesinApril2007,toencouragesports participationinschoolsandincreasesportingopportunitiesfortheyoung.Theprogrammewasrecentlyenhancedtoincludetwonew categories-SportsDevelopmentandSportsLeagues.TheSportsLeaguescategoryprovidesopportunitiesforschoolstoorganise intra-schoolcompetitions(e.g.inter-classcompetitions)thattakeplaceoveraprolongedperiodoftime,whereparticipatingteams havetheopportunitytoplayeachother(e.g.weeklyortwiceaweeketc)inthechosensportingactivity.Thislatestchangewillpro- videmoreplayopportunitiesforeverychild,insupportofoneoftherecommendationsintheSportingCultureCommitteeReport.
20 SSCSportsFacilitiestoTakeonaFunLook,MoreFieldsOpenforPlay SingaporeanscanalsoexpectamorefunandlivelylookattheSSC'ssportsfacilities.StartingfirstwithSSC'sWoodlands,Choa ChuKang,JurongWest,TampinesandHougangSRCsbyJune2008andtherestofSSC'sfacilitiesbyMarch2009. Tomakeplaymoreaccessible,theSSChasbeenworkingwithitssisteragenciestoopenupfieldsforpublicuse.Todate,thereare 120schoolfields,whichareopenedtothepublicforsportsandrecreationaluse,duringweekends.Thisisanincreaseof70school fieldsfrom2007.Movingforward,evenmorefieldswillbeopeneduptothepublicfortheiruse.
