PROVINCIAL NOTICE P.N. 52/2020 6 July 2020 WESTERN CAPE PROVINCIAL TREASURY ALLOCATIONS TO SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS AND PUBLIC ENTITIES AS REFLECTED IN THE 2020 BUDGET I, David Maynier, Provincial Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities in the Western Cape, in terms of section 30(2)(a) of the Division of Revenue Act, 2020, publish the following indicative allocations as set out in the Schedule: (a) the indicative allocation to be made per school and per hospital in the Province; (b) the indicative allocation to any provincial public entity for the implementation of a programme funded by an allocation in Part A of Schedule 5 of the Division of Revenue Act, 2020, on behalf of the Province or for assistance provided to the Province in implementing such a programme. The Schedule further sets out the envisaged division of the allocation envisaged in paragraph (a), in respect of each school and hospital, for the 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23 financial years. The conditions and other information required to facilitate performance measurement and the use of required inputs and outputs— (a) in respect of schools, are set out in the Amended National Norms and Standards for School Funding published under Government Notice 869 in Government Gazette 29179 of 31 August 2006; (b) in respect of hospitals, are as follows: (i) District Hospitals: to render a hospital service at subdistrict level; (ii) General (Regional) Hospitals: to render a hospital service at a general specialist level, provide a platform for the training of health workers and conduct research; (iii) Tuberculosis Hospitals: to convert present tuberculosis hospitals into strategically placed centres of excellence in which a small percentage of patients may undergo hospitalisation under conditions that allow for isolation during the intensive level of treatment and to apply the standardised multi-drug and extreme drug-resistant protocols; (iv) Psychiatric/Mental Hospitals: to render a specialist psychiatric hospital service for people with mental illness and intellectual disability and to maintain a platform for the training of health workers and conduct research; 6 Julie 2020 Provinsie Wes-Kaap: Buitengewone Provinsiale Koerant 8266 3 (v) Subacute, Step Down and Chronic Medical Hospitals: to render specialised rehabilitation services for persons with physical disabilities, including the provision of orthotic and prosthetic services; (vi) Central Hospital Services: to render general and highly specialised and quaternary medical health services on a national basis and maintain a platform for the training of health workers and conduct research; (vii) Provincial Tertiary Hospital Services: to render general specialist and tertiary health services on a national basis and maintain a platform for the training of health workers and conduct research; and (c) in respect of provincial public entities, are as set out in the Schedule.     30 March2017 Dear Parent/Guardian NEWSLETTER 9/17 We have reached the end of a highly successful term. So much has been achieved and we have big dreams and plans for the remainder of the year. Allow me this opportunity to thank every dedicated educator, coach and learner for their hard work and commitment. It is wonderful to see the scale of participation and the level at which we are competing now. Sport and culture have gone from strength to strength. Add to that the excellent academic results we attained last year, and you have to agree that our school is blessed with exceptional learners, educators and parents. During a recent visit by the Curro Transformation and Diversity team, we were complimented on the friendliness of our learners and staff. They noticed how learners went out of their way to greet them and to assist where they could. We also often get compliments from visitors, who work with our learners, regarding their ability to think out of the box and come up with new ideas and solutions. Schools close on Friday, 31 March at 11:00. Reports will be issued to learners on this day. Term 2 starts on Wednesday, 19 April. Educators already start on Tuesday, 18 April. Enjoy a well-deserved break with your children. May God keep you safe and may you experience a blessed Easter. STAFF MATTERS We wish to congratulate Mr Christiaan Botha who attended the North-West University of Potchefstroom’s graduation ceremony to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Education (BEd).     21 April 2017 Dear Parents Welcome back. I trust you have all enjoyed the longer-than-normal Easter holiday and, like your sons, are ready for the unique challenges of the second term. I addressed the boys at the last assembly of the first term, emphasising the fact that they will need to exercise all their skills of prior planning, goal-setting (in all aspects of school life) and time-management, very well. In addition, a strong work ethic will be required in order to have a fulfilling academic, sporting and cultural term, which will be disrupted by next week’s long weekend. Your sons will require strong support, as usual, from yourselves and I trust that this will be an enjoyable term for all. A large number of rugby and hockey teams represented SACS at a number of pre-season Easter festivals during the break. I wish to thank the staff and boys for sacrificing hard-earned holiday time in order to establish a solid foundation for the Winter sporting season. I am confident that these tours will prove beneficial. I also thank the parents who supported our lads across the length and breadth of our county. Messrs Peverley, Grobler, van Zyl, Barnard and Willows accompanied the hockey teams, whilst Messrs van Selm, Maurer, Wepener, O’Connor, Molnar and Southgate went to the various rugby festivals. The Catering Club provided a three-course meal which just added to the overall impact of the occasion. It was really nice to be able to have so many parents present as well. However, it would have been truly amazing if we had been able to have the whole school present to share in this special moment. We will however have an opportunity to all be together to honour our top academic achievers on the first Thursday of next Term when we hold our whole school Celebration (6:30pm, Thursday 3 October 2019). Please diarise this event which celebrates the achievements of our pupils over the past year. The evening will feature performances from our Drama, Music and Dance pupils.
