The Autumn Graduation is the highlight of our academic year as it provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our graduates. The graduation ceremonies at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology last a full week and this year almost 7 000 students will receive their qualifications, including 73 Masters and 16 doctoral graduates. On this momentous occasion I want to encourage each graduate to make the most of their qualification. Go forth and be a well-rounded graduate who has empathy, is sensitive to the needs of the people, ensures human, social and economic rights as well as the spirit of Ubuntu. I would also like to take the opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the University staff, parents, guardians and spouses for assisting each graduate on their educational and life journey during these defining years. This has been a truly collaborative effort and their contribution is celebrated this week as well. Lastly, always remember that the University is your alma mater. Continue to do us proud.     EFF STATEMENT ON SECOND NATIONAL PEOPLES ASSEMBLY, PARLIAMENT DEPLOYMENTS AND OTHER POLITICAL ISSUES Tuesday, 02 July, 2019 NATIONAL PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLY At its Special Meeting convened on the 1st of July, 2019, the Central Command Team resolved that the EFF Second National People’s Assembly will be convened on the 13 - 16 December, 2019 at the Expo Centre, Nasrec under the theme “Consolidating the Ground Towards Socialist Power”. The National People’s Assembly is an elective conference of the EFF, the highest decision-making body and, according to the EFF Constitution, takes place every five years. Accordingly, the CCT has adopted guidelines that pave the path towards the election of delegates from branches, including in regions, and provinces. These will be published on the EFF website for easy access. Within these guidelines are strict rules and deadlines for election of delegates, audit of branches, as well as conduct of all fighters and commissars on lobbying for leadership positions. Members and leaders of the EFF are therefore called upon to internalise these guidelines and participate in the lead up to this assembly with the highest discipline and determination. The Discussion Documents will also be published on the EFF website and they will be sent to branches, so that branches are not only ceased with matters of leadership but they also discuss the state of the nation in South Africa through the Discussion Documents of the EFF and provide what could be a sustainable solution to the challenges that are confronting the poor masses of our people on the ground. PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE DEPLOYMENTS Post 2019 General Elections, the EFF increased its seats from 31 to 53 Members of Parliament (MPs), with 44 in the National Assembly (NA) and 9 in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).

    30 March2017 Dear Parent/Guardian NEWSLETTER 9/17 We have reached the end of a highly successful term. So much has been achieved and we have big dreams and plans for the remainder of the year. Allow me this opportunity to thank every dedicated educator, coach and learner for their hard work and commitment. It is wonderful to see the scale of participation and the level at which we are competing now. Sport and culture have gone from strength to strength. Add to that the excellent academic results we attained last year, and you have to agree that our school is blessed with exceptional learners, educators and parents. During a recent visit by the Curro Transformation and Diversity team, we were complimented on the friendliness of our learners and staff. They noticed how learners went out of their way to greet them and to assist where they could. We also often get compliments from visitors, who work with our learners, regarding their ability to think out of the box and come up with new ideas and solutions. Schools close on Friday, 31 March at 11:00. Reports will be issued to learners on this day. Term 2 starts on Wednesday, 19 April. Educators already start on Tuesday, 18 April. Enjoy a well-deserved break with your children. May God keep you safe and may you experience a blessed Easter. The SECRETARY: Debate on Vote 1 – Premier – Western Cape Adjustments Appropriation Bill [B 6 – 2018]. The SPEAKER: I see the Premier. The PREMIER: Thank you very much, Mr Deputy Speaker. The Adjustments Budget represents an increase of R10,4 million when compared to the 2018/19 main Budget. This increase will assist the Department to invest in much needed IT refresh and to communicate with citizens regarding water scarcity, especially beyond the borders of the City of Cape Town. To deal with water scarcity, a targeted Water Demand Management Communication Campaign will be undertaken in the Karoo and parts of the West Coast over the summer period. These areas remain under distress and the campaign to the value of R4,6 million aims to encourage responsible water use so that limited supply can be conserved. The campaign will also 2 reach tourists and residents more broadly with the simple “Save water this summer” message. R2 million has been allocated towards the strategic communication campaign which aims to report back to Western Cape residents as we come to the end of this administration.     Newsletter #33 2019 20 September 2019 Dear Parents, On Monday evening we had the privilege of honouring our achievers in the area of Sports, Culture and for the first time in this way, Service. It was a truly magical evening with the School Hall transformed with draping and beautiful lighting. The Catering Club provided a three-course meal which just added to the overall impact of the occasion. It was really nice to be able to have so many parents present as well. However, it would have been truly amazing if we had been able to have the whole school present to share in this special moment. We will however have an opportunity to all be together to honour our top academic achievers on the first Thursday of next Term when we hold our whole school Celebration (6:30pm, Thursday 3 October 2019). Please diarise this event which celebrates the achievements of our pupils over the past year. The evening will feature performances from our Drama, Music and Dance pupils. SPORT, CULTURAL AND SERVICE AWARDS 2019 Congratulations to all the winners at the Sports, Cultual and Service Awards. A complete list of all the winners is attached with this newsletter. PARENTS SUPPORT WELCOME FOR FACILITY STAFFROOM REFURBISH A team of parents would like show their appreciation towards the dedicated work of the Facilities Team by creating a space for them to unwind in their breaks. They have received a donation of a couch, a few cushions and side tables. They are still looking for furniture, cushions, pictures, anything to add warmth and atmosphere to the space.

    2006/7 A N I M P R O V E D S E R V I C E M E T H O D O L O G Y A N ote F rom the D epartment The Department of Community Safety, Western Cape is responsible for the coordination and implementation of community based social crime prevention and oversight over the South African Police Services (SAPS), amongst other key performances. Key to the Department’s approach is a transformatory and participatory methodology supported by the National Crime Prevention Strategy (NCPS, 1996) and the ikapa Growth and Development White Paper (2007). This integrated service delivery programme is implemented via Bambanani “Unite” Against Crime (Bambanani Strategy). The Bambanani Strategy is over-arching to the entire Department and is premised on the principles outlined in Batho Pele and the notion of a developmental state. Minister Leonard Ramatlakane Under the direct guidance of Minister Leonard Ramatlakane and I, the Directorates: Community Liaison Minister of Community Safety and Social Crime Prevention are responsible for the design and implementation of the Bambanani Western Cape “Unite” Against Crime Strategy. The Directorate: Strategic Services and Communication and the Directorate: Safety Information and Research is responsible for researching, documenting and sharing strategies, methodologies and information respectively with internal and external stakeholders. The Best Practice document in the form of An Improved Service Delivery Methodology 2007/08 aims to share the experiences and expose other Departments to the implementation strategies employed by the Department of Community Safety, in its efforts to transform delivery through encouraging community participation, community empowerment, social cohesion, social capital and deliver services that reflect public value.

    1 AWARD WINNERS The annual University of Cape Town Mathematics Competition took place on the UCT campus on 14 April this year, attracting over 6600 participants from Western Cape high schools. Each school could enter up to five individuals and five pairs, in each grade (8 to 12). The question papers were set by a team of local teachers and staff of the UCT Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. Each paper consisted of 30 questions, ranging from rather easy to quite difficult. Gold Awards were awarded to the top ten individuals and top three pairs in each grade. We also, just came from celebrating youth month Wand the highlight was June 16. This reminds me of a song, I recently heard, from one South Africa's celebrated top Hip Hop artist. His name is Tuks this is what he says about challenges being faced by the youth today; Xolani Luthuli from the Communication Team “This is where we from – Bottom to the Top – the Bottom struggle never stops. Check where we were brought up – Prisons held our leaders. 20 years haven't gone by – but we have already forgotten where we come from” This touched me because most of us seem to be unsure of the sacrifices that the Class of 1976, made for us. They paved the way for us to be emancipated and it's up to us to repay them by Editorial Team: being the best that we can be in our respective areas. This even-handedness might help explain the hoard of government contracts Majola’s LTE Consulting accumulated over the years, whose value can be measured not in millions … but in billions PART 1: GIYANI olitically connected businessman Thulani Majola, recipient of billions in questionable government Pcontracts, has artfully played both sides of the political aisle, handing out millions to ANC causes and to EFF leader Julius Malema, often in the same period. Majola’s company LTE Consulting made regular headlines for its role in a water project in Giyani which failed to bring water, but cost taxpayers R3-billion. Majola also squeezed almost a billion from several projects it obtained from Gauteng’s department of human settlements. According to an analysis by News24, of that R1-billion, LTE received R224-million for projects it claimed it never worked on, while separately questions have been raised about how the company obtained one of the Gauteng tenders worth R200-million – see Mokonyane’s history with LTE alongside. Despite public outrage and official investigations, neither scandal has yet damaged Majola – though the Hawks raided LTE Consulting in November over an unrelated Covid-19 tender. Over three years between 2016 and 2019, Majola doled out over R3-million to a Malema- linked front company, and over R14-million to various ANC structures.
