The Singareni coal reserves stretch across 350 km of the Pranahita – Godavari Valley of Telangana. Coal Mining in SCCL was started in the year 1889 with a production of 0.06 Million tons and the production reached to 64.40 Million tons during the year 2018-19. SCCL is currently operating 18 opencast and 28underground mines in 6 districts of Telangana with human resource strength of around 46500. SCCL is contributing 9.5 % in the all India domestic coal production. SCCL is a Pioneer in introduction of various technologies in various mines. SCCL is mainly engaged in mining of coal. As a part of diversification, operating 2x600 MW Thermal Power Plant, Solar power generation, Manufacturing of explosives for internal consumption and POB (sand) for stowing purpose. SCCL intended to adopt/introduce a new system of power generation with Geo- thermal energy. As per the recommendations of expert committee comprising Scientists of GSI, M/s Shriram Institute for Industrial Research (SRI) and Telangana State Renewable Energy Department Corporation (TSREDCO), 20 kW renewable power plant using Binary ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) modular unit is technically feasible for electricity generation at the following Boreholes adopting geo thermal system. Three boreholes were drilled earlier by Geological Survey of India at Gollakuttur village near Manuguru area of Bhadradri Kothagudem District, Telangana State for exploration of coal deposits.
