Mark My Words, You Should Read This- Students create an infographic book mark about their favorite book. Literacy night- Students bring Thursday, their parents to different stations around the school to show them what January 30th we are doing during our reading block. Students receive passports. ​ Passports are used to place in Literacy themed baskets that are raffled off. Ask Me About My Favorite Book Character. Students decorate a book character cutouts and when prompted by school staff, will explain why Friday, it is their favorite character. January 31st ​

Readers Café- Teachers will decorate a space in their room of a café’ and during ELA time, students will “Drop Everything And Read” for thirty Tuesday, minutes at the café’ January 28rd ​

Wacky Wednesday- Teachers and students will choose a book for their Wednesday, class and they will bring the book to life by decorating the classroom, January 29th the door and dress like the characters. Other Teachers and students ​ will have to guess the name of the book.

Friday, January 24th- Take a look at the Ziploc bag with the Literacy Week/GKC materials. Each class has been assigned a secret buddy class to send a to. On the front of the postcard, you will design a kindness inspirational message (ie. Spread Kindness Like Confetti). On the back of the postcard, write a note to your buddy class about your class’ favorite book or about the book your class is currently reading. Please drop your postcard into the Media Center mailbox no later than Thursday afternoon. (Remind students to be ready to share all the places they have traveled to on Monday)

Monday, Monday, January 27th- All the Places We’ve Been! January 27nd Create a list of all the places throughout the world that you and your ​ students have been. Bring your list with you to the Media Center on your Media day so you can make your travels count on the map. Also, talk about all the places we can travel through reading books. All Lake Whitney Dolphins will spread kindness by focusing on simple things like smiling at others, using respectful manners, and greeting those around you. Learn how to say “Hello” for all the countries you and your class have traveled to. Check off all the kind acts related to showing respect and “learn how to say Hello in each of the languages of your travels” from your kindness checklist.

Tuesday, January 28th – Find A Bookmark in a Good Book! Students will design a bookmark. Make sure they incorporate the Tuesday, school year 2019-2020 somewhere in their bookmark design. Have January 28rd ​ students bring their designed bookmark to the library during the next scheduled Media day so we can continue our “pass it on” kindness

Must be in accordance with OCPS dress code. January 28rd Students who participate in the pajama/character day can enjoy their ​ lunch out in the patio while reading their book. First come first serve due to limited seating. • Book Drive: Give books back!
