When they are closed, we will close. If they are on either a one-hour or two-hour delay, then so is Hawthorne Valley School. Closings and delays are placed on the school website (www.hawthornevalleyschool.org) and notification line (518-672-7092, and press 4) by 6:30am. Early dismissals will be placed on the website and recorded on the School Notification Line as soon as a decision to close early is made. PLEASE NOTE: On mornings when school closings or delays are likely, we recommend that you check our website for updates. These announcements will also be present on the Times Union website (www.timeunion. com); TV stations WRGB (channel 6), WTEN (channel 10), and WNYT (channel 13); and radio stations WGY (810 AM), WHUC (1230 AM), and WSBS (860 AM). Last year, we also implemented a new flag notification system on campus. At arrival, there will be a Green, Orange, or Red flag present near drop off. They represent the following: Green means school is open and running on its regular schedule. Orange means that school is on a delay. This flag will be the indicator for both a 1-hour delay and 2-hour delay (In the event of an orange flag, please check the school’s website or phone the school’s notification line [518.672.7092, and press 4] to determine the length of the delay). Red means school is closed for the day. In the event of a 1 hour delay, students should arrive to school no earlier than 8:55am. In the event of a two hour delay, students should arrive to school no earlier than 9:55am. Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School is an independent co-educational day school (early childhood through twelfth grade) within the Hawthorne Valley Association, Inc., a non-profit, tax-exempt (13-2722428) organization chartered under the laws of New York State. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, sex, or national origin. A copy of the most recent annual report filed with the New York State Board of Social Welfare may be obtained by writing to them at Tower Building, Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY 12223. 2 SCHOOL HOURS Note: Students should be at school no earlier than 7:55am and no later than 8:10am. Parents should call the school office no later than 8:30am on the day a student is absent. Please call your child’s music teacher separately to cancel after school lessons.
