Everything I Ever Wanted to Tell My Daughter About Men traces a woman’s relationship history backwards, exploring the impact of sexual assault, addiction and teen pregnancy on her adult relationships. Presented in association with RISE and The Circle, all profits from this event will go towards supporting survivors of sexual violence. Thanks in huge part to RISE’s work, the event will also mark the planned introduction of the Worldwide Sexual Violence Survivor Rights United Nations Resolution later this year, which addresses the global issue of sexual violence and pens into existence the civil rights of millions of survivors. Nobel-Prize nominee and founder of Rise, Amanda Nguyen, will introduce the evening. A silent auction will also take place on the night to highlight and raise awareness for the support networks available to those in need. Audience members will be able to bid on props from the production as well as a selection of especially commissioned rotary phones, exclusively designed by acclaimed British artists including Harland Miller, Natasha Law, Bella Freud and Emma Sargeant. The money raised by each phone will go to a rape crisis helpline chosen by the artist. -

The Media World: a New Collaboration Was Born
The Media World: A New Collaboration Was Born MeCCSA and AMPE Joint Annual Conference. 5- 7 January 2005, University of Lincoln A report by Serena Formica, University of Nottingham, UK There was much anticipation and expectation leading up to the 2005 MeCCSA conference at the University of Lincoln. This was due to the event being the first joint MeCCSA (Media, Communications and Cultural Studies Association) and AMPE (Association of Media Practice Educators) conference. The purpose of this union was to highlight the common features of both organisations, such as interest in media, Cultural Studies, pedagogy -- all of them reflected in the numerous panels throughout the three-day meeting. Plenary sessions interspersed the many panels, the first of which was presented by Ursula Maier-Rabler (Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies and Research in Information and Communication Technologies and Society, University of Salzburg), who presented a paper entitled "Why do ICTs Matter? The Cultural-Social Milieu as Invisible Underpinning of New Information and Communication Technologies". Dr. Maier-Rabler highlighted the increasing importance of ICTs, considered as a Digital Network, characterised by its universality and non-linearity of contents. As Paul Virilio pointed out, ICTs are permeated by a constant acceleration, which emphasises its element of 'unfinishedness'. The cultural milieu surrounding ICTs was presented as divided into four major social-geographical areas: Social- conservative, Social-democratic, Protestant-liberal and Liberal-conservative. Maier-Rabler observed that the former belong to a collective form of State, whereas the latter belong to a form that is more individualistic. Furthermore, Dr. Maier-Rabler analysed ICTs' perspectives in terms of communication and infrastructure -- media (defined by a shift from programmes to services, media systems to infrastructure and recipient to users) and network (at a technical and social level). -

Our strategic tools include monitoring the media; commissioning and conducting research; and undertaking other special initiatives to spotlight gender and racial bias in news coverage, entertainment flm and television, social media, and other key sectors. Rupert Everett ~ 36 Screen Credits
Rupert Everett ~ 36 Screen Credits Look at that lip. Hauteur, condescension, disdain writ large. "I am a very limited actor. There's a certain amount I can do and that's it," said Everett in 2014. Maybe so, but - see My Best Friend's Wedding, An Ideal Husband, Separate Lies or Unconditional Love - how well he does it. Born in Burnham Deepdale, Norfolk on 29 May 1959 the second son of parents Anthony and Sara, RUPERT JAMES HECTOR EVERETT is of English, Scottish, Irish and more distant German and Dutch ancestry. His father, who died in 2009, was a Major in the British Army who later worked in business. When he was six, Rupert was taken into Braintree for his first trip to a cinema. There was a long queue, the child was typically fretful and the grown-ups thought about leaving, but finally decided not to: And so my mother bought the fateful tickets and unknowingly guided me through a pair of swing doors into the rest of my life ... ... Those huge curtains silently swished open and Mary Poppins sprang across the footlights and into my heart. After preliminary instruction from a governess, Everett was educated at Far- leigh House School, Andover from seven to thirteen then at Ampleforth College, Yorkshire from thirteen to sixteen, at which point he absconded to London to become an actor. After two years of living the bohemian life to the full (if not excess), he won a coveted place at the Central School of Speech and Drama, but after attending for two tempestuous and more or less unrewarding years was told not to return for a third.
