Welcome to the Spanish Trail Playhouse We would first like to thank you for your interest in auditioning for a production with the Spanish Trail Playhouse! This audition packet is designed to help you feel prepared for the audition process, so you feel comfortable and can give your best performance at auditions.

If you are new to the Spanish Trail Playhouse, we are very happy that you are considering joining our family! If you have auditioned for us before, it will be good to see you again! Community theatre is, at its heart, a collaborative project. We strongly believe that collaboration is found through the combined efforts of everyone involved in our productions— new performers and old. We are excited and humbled for your audition consideration!

About the Spanish Trail Playhouse…… The Spanish Trail Playhouse originally began in 1962. In 1964, the Playhouse was recognized by The Florida Arts Council as a charter member. During their seven-year run, the Playhouse presented successful productions such as Carousel, Oklahoma, Show Boat and many more large-scale plays and musicals popular during that era. The Spanish Trail Playhouse closed the curtains for the last time in 1968 after the final performance of The Sound of Music.

In 2006, under the direction of Kevin Russell, a local theatre graduate, efforts began to bring back what was once a vital part of the community. In 2008, the Spanish Trail Playhouse opened its first production in over 38 years, Steel Magnolias, and moved into its current home, the Historic Chipley High School Auditorium. Since its re-establishment in 2007, the Spanish Trail Playhouse completed eleven very successful seasons, over 50 mainstage productions and multiple fundraiser productions. The Spanish Trail Playhouse is a non-profit community theatre and is one of the only remaining all-volunteer community theatres in the state of Florida.

We invite you to join us as we continue our mission to promote and increase the public knowledge and appreciation of the arts in Washington County through live theatre.

ABOUT THE SHOW

In this comedy with a heart, Mom has been dead for 11 months and shows up at her husband’s birthday party as a ghost with a mission. Like Clarence in It’s A Wonderful Life, she has to accomplish a task to earn her wings. Only what the task actually is, is a mystery. There are so many things to fix. The problem is complicated by the fact that the only person who can hear or see Mom is her daughter who has been ordered by the court to spend Dad’s birthday with him as part of her Anger Management Program. One by one the family's secrets are peeled away revealing a shocking truth that surprises even our ghost.

About the director

Tina is a full-time employee for Enviva Biomass in Cottondale but considers being a wife for 25 years to her husband Todd as her best job in life. Their five children have given them four beautiful grandchildren. Tina became an active volunteer at the Spanish Trail Playhouse in 2010 when she was cast in the sold-out production of the musical, Annie. She has performed in many productions throughout her past nine years with the Spanish Trail Playhouse. She has worked backstage as well as on stage and served in many vital capacities. Tina directed the very successful show, Hallelujah Girls in Season 11. She has enjoyed working with the talented cast and all of the backstage volunteers. She is excited about directing this show and many more in the future.
