INCUBATION AND FERTILITY RESEARCH GROUP WPSA Working Group 6 (Reproduction)

First Announcement 2012 Meeting , 13 – 15 June 2012

The organisers would like to invite you to the 2012 meeting of the IFRG which will be held in the historic city of Pisa on the 13 – 15 June. The conference is for all those interested in poultry and avian reproduction, incubation and fertility. The scientific programme will have both invited speakers and open oral and poster sessions. Abstracts of all papers will be published in Avian Biology Research.

The meeting will be held in the historic Charterhouse at Calci, originally a Carthusian Monastery founded in 1366 but now used for conferences and holds the Natural History Museum for the University of Pisa. The Charterhouse is 13km from the centre of Pisa but coaches will be provided to transport delegates from Pisa to the conference venue.

Pisa, famous for its leaning tower, is located in the beautiful region of and is close to the other historic cities of , Siena and Lucca. Pisa also has good transport links with 2 international airports (Pisa and Florence) nearby and good railway and road connections. For delegates who wish to take the opportunity to extend their stay in Tuscany there will be cultural tours organised on Saturday 16th June if there is sufficient demand. Delegates may also wish to stay in Pisa for the night of Saturday 16th June to see the annual Saint Ranieri’s Festival of Lights, a display of lights and fireworks.

The Italian Branch of the WPSA will also be holding their annual meeting in Pisa on Friday 15th June. IFRG delegates will be able to attend a joint Italian WPSA/IFRG session on the morning of 15th June. Hotels Delegates should make their own accommodation arrangements and there are many hotels in Pisa to suit a range of budgets. It should be noted that Pisa is a popular tourist destination and hotels may be fully booked early so it is recommended that delegates book early. The organisers have arranged for special conference rates for the nights of 13 & 14 June at 4 hotels, when booking please state that you require the IFRG Conference rate.
