An extraordinary organist is leaving his mark on recent music history. One of the most in-demand Organists in the world. Recent recitals with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Lucerne Festival, Philharmonie Cologne, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Philharmonie Luxembourg and his debut at the Cité de la musique, in Paris. Cameron Carpenter became the first organist to ever be nominated for a Grammy Award for his solo album, Revolutionary. He designed and commissioned the International Touring Organ, a one-of-a-kind, customized, “full scale portable organ sonically tailorable to any acoustic environment”, which took ten years and cost $2 million to build. Although Carpenter will be playing the million dollar Nichols and Simpson organ at the Church of the Redeemer, the story of the International Touring Organ is fascinating. Since the premier of the ITO in March 2014, Cameron no longer has to learn a new instrument for every perfor- mance which he characterized as maddening.
