How Getting to Sorrento
HOW GETTING TO SORRENTO: 1) For the people who arrive straight to Naples (Capodichino) airport From Capodichino airport you can get to Sorrento in several ways: a) Airport-Sorrento Bus the best solution is taking a CURRERI VIAGGI (www.curreriviaggi.it) Capodichino-Sorrento bus, it is 10 € and it takes 75 min to get to Sorrento from Naples (Capodichino) airport ( 6 buses a day, every day, at 9 - 11 - 13 - 14.30 - 16,30 - 19,30). You can buy the ticket on the bus and you can take the bus in front of Arrival Hall. b) Bus + Train from the airport there is a public transport of Naples municipality AMN, called Alibus , whose times can be seen on-line (http://www.anm.it/Upload/RES/PDF/ORARI/Capodichino.pdf). The ticket is 3€, it leaves every 20 min, from 6,30 to 24,00 and you can go straight both to Naples centre and to Garibaldi square central station, whence you can get to Sorrento by Circumvesuviana train (local transport) in about 60 min. You can find the times on http://www.vesuviana.it/web/files/Napoli%20Sorrento%20A4.pdf. The Circumvesuviana station is at the lower floor of Central station, it is called Naples Garibaldi and it is well evident. The AMN bus stop at the airport is opposite the arrivals. c) Taxi If you want to get to Sorrento by taxi I suggest to take an official taxi by standing in a queue on the right, coming out of the airport, near the municipal police. The taxi is quite expensive, about 70/100 € and you have to pay the return too because the distance is over 50 Km. -

Tis is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. A hedonic model for estimating the efects of transit systems on real estate values is specifed and calibrated for the city of Naples. Te model is used to estimate the external benefts concerning property values which may be attributed to the Naples metro at the present time and in two future scenarios. Te results show that only high-frequency metro lines have appreciable efects on real estate values, while low-frequency metro lines and bus lines produce no signifcant impacts. Our results show that the impacts on real estate values of the metro system in Naples are signifcant, with corresponding external benefts estimated at about 7.2 billion euros or about 8.5% of the total value of real estate assets. 1. TRANSIT TALK VOL. 41 Edmonton Launches Battery Bus Service Eleven years after the City of Edmonton scrapped its 140 km electric trolleybus system in a backward move that will live in infamy, electric buses of sorts have returned to its streets. The new vehicles are battery buses, built by American manufacturer Proterra. Although only about half as energy efficient overall as trolleybuses, the vehicles are just as quiet and just as fume-free in the streets, where the noxious fumes from diesel buses have the greatest potential for harm. 21 of the new battery- electric buses debuted in August, with the remainder of an order of 40 vehicles to follow. Built in South Carolina, the buses run off long-range batteries, which are charged overnight using electricity from the grid at overhead charging stations in the garage. Edmonton is one of only a few cities in North America to employ this particular type of charging technology. The buses can travel up to 350 km on a single charge. The vehicles are considered a “long range battery bus”. Transit Branch Manager Eddie Robar explained: “We chose a long-range charge bus because that gives us effectively the same capability we have with our diesel buses today — we can do the same things with our electric bus. We get a full service day from that bus. We’re able to apply it to any route or any location in the city. We’re not restricted by where we need to charge the bus at what time of day. It goes back to the garage, it charges overnight and it’s back out for a full day of service the next day.” The 40-foot Proterra Catalyst E2 MAX vehicle boasts 660 kWh of onboard energy and Proterra’s DuoPower drivetrain. -

PRESS RELEASE IN A AUGUR TION OF NEW STATION Naples-GARIBALDI BY DOMINIQUE perraULT © DPA / Adagp After two achievements in the north of Italy – the NH-Fieramilano Hotel in the northwest of Milan delivered in 2008 and the redesigning of the Piazza Gramsci (2004), central place of Cinisello Balsamo, city located a few kilometres from the Milan capital-, Dominique Perrault makes his mark in the southern provinces of the peninsula, benefiting from the upcoming arrival of a metro station to orchestrate the –in-depth- transforma- tion of a major public space in the heart of Naples: The Piazza Garibaldi. After a striking proposition made on the occasion of the international architecture competition for the creation of the future TGV Napoli station - Afragola (Treno Alta Velocita) in 2003 - the architect of the Grande Bibliothèque is entrusted, from 2004, by the Metropolitana di Napoli with the studies for the redesigning of the Piazza Garibaldi, but also the realisation of the eponym subway station on the new line 1. It’s an effervescent scene where the Neapolitan intensity explodes, and where more than 50 millions of people pass by every year. The Piazza Garibaldi on which watches over- face to the central station - the statue of the man called “the hero of the Two Worlds” gathers in a happy chaos the historic heart of Naples and the new business district set up on the former warehouses of the City: the Centro Direzionale. This square is a link of almost 6 hectares. It relies on a heterogeneous built heritage, and until now it was used as a huge available space serving the intermodality and the moving, without properly qualifying the public space to host the urban practices, and only offers to the residents, travellers and walkers, few spaces dedicated to the ramble and the relaxation.
