THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE PARISHES OF SPROXTON AND CROXTON KERRIAL & BRANSTON IN THE BOROUGH OF MELTON) (IMPOSITION OF A 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 201 THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 5 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be: 1. To impose a 50mph speed limit on parts of Saltby Road, Church Lane, Sproxton Road, The Crescent, The Butts, Wyville Road and Croxton Road, Sproxton and parts of Saltby Road and Wyville Road, Croxton Kerrial A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and an explanatory statement giving the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at my offices, Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA, and at the offices of at the offices of Melton Borough Council, Parkside, Station Approach, Burton Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1GH and on the Notice Boards of Croxton Kerrial & Branston and Sproxton Parish Councils. As a result of this review Saltby Road, Croxton Road and Sproxton Road have been identified to have a total number of accidents above the national average. Therefore, in order to increase general safety and reduce the accident rate, the County Council proposes to reduce the speed limit from 60mph to 50mph. This Order may be cited as “The Leicestershire County Council (Various Roads in the Parishes of Sproxton and Croxton Kerrial & Branston, Borough of Melton) (Imposition of a 50 MPH Speed Limit) Order 201“ and shall come into force on the day of 201.J 4. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 MPH on the length of road as specified in the Schedule to this Order. 5. The plan annexed to this Order and marked drawing number P622/T1/1 is for identification purposes only.
