1st July 2020

Dear parents and students

GCSE Results – Thursday 20th August

We are writing to confirm our arrangements for GCSE results day this year. In response to the renewed lockdown measures, we are required to email results to our students using their school email address at 8.00 am on Thursday 20th August. This will be in the form of a PDF document on school-headed paper. A paper copy of results will then be posted on Thursday and should arrive on Friday or Saturday. It is imperative that all students check that they can still access their email accounts and that they know their login details before Friday 19th July. If a student does not remember their login details they must contact the school so that we can reset the password before results day.

We understand that some students may require a paper copy of their results slips on results day and appreciate that not all students will be able to print out their results. We will make paper copies available to those students for whom it is essential to have the paper copy on results day and who email Mrs Taylor, the Examinations and Data Manager, to arrange an appointment to collect results. However we do request that if possible you wait until your results arrive in the post. Please email [email protected] by Tuesday 18th August if you need to collect results on the Thursday. Collection of results will need to reflect social distancing expectations in force at that time and so we will only issue results via pre-arranged appointments. We cannot accept requests via email after Tuesday 18th August given the extensive preparations which we need to make to ensure all student results are available at 8.00 am on Thursday.

Please check the school website for updates regarding results day and how to access post results services and support and guidance in relation to progression. We are still awaiting clarification from Ofqual and JCQ as to how post results services will be operating this year and will publish information as soon as we know.

School staff will be available by telephone or email on Thursday 20th August to deal with exam and progression queries. Mrs Kyle (Careers Lead) will be available on the phone from 8.00 am until 3.00 pm to assist with any queries regarding schools, colleges and apprenticeships. She will have a limited number of socially distanced face-to-face meetings with students on Friday 21st August and this will be via appointment only. A booking system for appointments will be available online from Thursday 20th August – further details will be emailed to students in due course. Mrs Taylor will be available to assist with any exam related queries on the phone on Thursday and Friday.

On behalf of all staff we wish our leaving Year 11 students every success in the future and we hope that they have enjoyed their time at The Roundhill Academy and that the support that the school has been able to give over the years with us will set them up well for what comes next.

With regards to Year 11 progression we have received the information on the following pages from some of the schools and colleges about how their enrolment process will work.

Yours sincerely

Tim Marston Tania Taylor Head Teacher Examinations and Data Manager
