The Cavemen started playing in the Gran- ville Hotel, Ramsgate. The only part of the building being used at the time was the down stairs ballroom. The story behind this what make jazz legends! A young sixth former from Chatham House ,Peter Darby persuaded Billy and Florrie Hamilton to rent him the cellar The original band members under the hotel for ten bob a week. The teenage band, friends put in a cement floor, a lintel between two rooms and hung Chianti bottles with candles on the walls. This was a joint effort by students from local art colleges and various secondary schools. Dave has led bands ranging from duos ’Just the Two of Us’, duo ‘Dave Corsby Quartet’ , Brass Tacks and a big band ‘Mission Imposable’.
